Review: I requested quotes from state farm for both homeowners and auto insurance. After getting a rate I felt was acceptable. I changed over my policy, two days after the policy starts I get a call saying state farm cannot insure me due to my sister in law having a ticket that was paid late. State farm had all driver license numbers and birth dates before I even changed over. They should have had this info before they offered me the policy. Now all of a sudden I only have 30 days to get new insurance and come up with the down payment money. So when I was informed of this I found a new policy with [redacted] for both homeowners and auto. WE paid our home owners out of pocket for the year. A year later I find out that state farm is charging me again for another year of homeowners insurance. They never canceled the policy and kept the money so for one year I had two homeowners policies going. I get with state farm and they reply I just spoke with our underwriters; unfortunately they have no control of back dating it on the initial date I requested for the cancellation. The refund that is going to be sent to you is $106.89, they stated that there are guidelines and one of them is that they have no power to back date it because there were two policys in effect. I apologize for the inconvenience. They had no problem taking money from the escrow account, but payback is not possible?Desired Settlement: Just what they charged me last year for my policy, nothing more nothing less.
