Boydston Construction Reviews (2)

Mr. [redacted], received the Invoice/Receipt at the time I gave him the cost of the cover and the installation along with the warranty, He was informed the cover would have to be ordered from alumni-cover located in Arizona in addition he stated he needed to check with his wife...

on what color to get for the awning, it took about one week for the cover to come from the supplier, there was some delays do to wind, the panels being installed are 14' x 20' in length and unsafe to handle in windy conditions, the roof on the mobile home was damaged from hail storm as stated to me by [redacted] prior to starting the installation, it did leak from where the roof meets the awning, I hired Oscar the roofer to repair [redacted]s roof in that area which stopped the water from going under the shingles that were damaged from hail storm, when we I talked [redacted] stated he wanted the awning at least 7' tall so his relatives could walk up the steps into the deck which we did which gave only about a 2 inch slop, when Oscar went back to repair the roof I had him lower the slop more for better drainage which took care of the water backing up, Oscar said [redacted] was very rude to him while he was doing the repairs.[redacted] has received all paper work for the awning, I feel he is using the Revdex.com only for harassment and intimidation purposes, why would he wait ''NINE'' months to ask for a receipt and make a finale payment without one?

In response to Roger Boydston Construction:Before I proceed informing the Revdex.com of all of the documented detail, I must state that there is a purpose for all of this.  Someone at the Revdex.com needs to understand my reasoning for the complaint as well as my concerns.  This is not meant to be intimidating, nor is it for my enjoyment.  I have better things to do with my time as do you.  I need a "paid in full" receipt for the work done, along with the 10-year warranty statement that was promised to me by the contractor that I selected.  It makes me wonder why Boydston Construction can't or won't provide me with the requested documents.  Any business owner would recognize the customer's wishes and provide a legitimate receipt and warranty paperwork without delay.  All that I ever received was a proposal (estimate) in May of 2016.  The proposal (estimate) was to re-roof the entire home and to install a deck awning.  The two estimates were to be indicated separately; the roof had to be submitted to our insurance company, and the deck was being paid out of pocket.  After review of the bids that we received for the work we wanted done, we elected to use Boydston Construction for the deck awning only, which per the estimate was to be $3300.00.  I will be happy to fax you a copy of his proposal if needed.  If Mr. B[redacted] is stating that the proposal is his receipt, does that mean that the other two proposals/estimates from two other companies are also legitimate receipts as well?  No, they are not.  Boydston Construction's proposal/estimate does not indicate what actually transpired, nor does it indicate that I paid him in full.  Would this proposal/estimate hold up in a court of law?  Again, it would not.Isn't this illegal?  Taking payment without giving the customer an actual "paid in full" receipt and warranty paperwork is questionable.  Did he report the payment as income?  Does the IRS know that he is conducting business in this way?  For the record, Roger B[redacted] used to own Pioneer Mobile Home Service.  For the awning installation, Mr. B[redacted] requested partial payment in order to order supplies.  On May 18, 2016, I paid him $1800.00.  On May 25th he texted me that the awning kit had been ordered.  When the kit came in, he mentioned that he would start work on May 31, 2016. On June 1, 2016 a person named Brian M[redacted] started installation.  He was not a Boydston Construction employee.  Please note that Brian M[redacted] was not mentioned in Mr. B[redacted]'s response to you.  There were/are so many issues that occurred regarding the construction that I cannot mention them all.  I will limit comments to the most important issues so that you can understand the potential for recurring concerns and why I am requiring a receipt and warranty. The installation was a nightmare from the very beginning.  Brian drilled numerous holes on the house flashing while trying to figure out where to attach the awning.  He did not install a long metal brace (which was provided with the kit) where the awning attaches to the home.  When I questioned him on this, he replied that he had his own method.  Issues at this stage are:  Does the awning have sufficient & proper attachment to the home and will it withstand a heavy snow? After the top panels were installed, there was no slope at all; rain would never run off away from the house and would come back towards the roof of the home.  I mentioned this to Brian and he agreed that the lack of slope was an error on his part. Brian had to dis-assemble the entire awning and flashing where it attached to the house.  He had to cut the two outside posts and dropped the awning down a couple of inches.  This, of course, meant that he had to re-drill the holes in the flashing and the house in order to re-install the awning.  The following day, Brian failed to show up to complete the installation.  On Friday June 3, Brian did not show up again, so I called Mr. B[redacted] to inquire about what was going on with the installation.  Mr. B[redacted] called Brian and he showed up mid-morning on the June 3rd.  (I must mention that I had to dig two post holes for him because he was not able to.  I also supplied 3 bags of quick set cement for posts.  When Brian was finished with the installation, he told me that he needed the final payment to give to Mr. B[redacted].  I requested that he tell Mr. B[redacted] to send me a paid in full receipt.  While Brian was loading up his tools, it began to rain.  That was when we first saw the amount of water that was leaking between the house and all along the awning.  The water was running right down the wall, and if would eventually result in damage to the house.  Brian observed this and said that he would be back to address the leaks.  After several unsuccessful attempts by Brian to repair the leaks and other cosmetic issues I called Mr. B[redacted].  Shortly thereafter Mr.B[redacted] came by.  At this time, I pointed out the installation issues, the visual appearance (nicks, dents and holes) and that I felt that it was done very unprofessionally.  (Most of the visual issues have since been covered up and are hidden by panels, sealer, etc.)  Mr. B[redacted]'s response to my concerns was, and I quote "Did is seem like Brian was on drugs?"  I couldn't believe it, and that was the final straw for me.  I informed Mr. B[redacted] that I did not want Brian back to perform any more work.  Mr. B[redacted] seemed to understand, and had a roofer, Mr. Oscar M[redacted] come out a few days later.  Oscar M[redacted] addressed the leaks by adding foam inserts and sealer.  He never altered any of the actual construction done by Brian M[redacted].  As of now, I have a couple of small leaks.  Nothing major right now; I will keep an eye on them.  I must mention that at this time I had Oscar M[redacted] completely reroof the HOME.I paid him for his portion and he provided me with a paid in full receipt and warranty. In addressing Mr. B[redacted]'s response to the Revdex.com:  The reason it took so long for me to bring it to your (Revdex.com) attention, was because Mr. B[redacted] kept stalling & putting me off for so long.  I even stated on July 25th that I would take action in some way to ensure that I received my paid in full receipt and warranty.  I was surprised when I was told "Do whatever is best for you".  Wow!  There was absolutely no concern for customer satisfaction.  His comment regarding hail damage on the house was irrelevant; that was not the major troubling issue.  It was the improper slope and attachment by Brian M[redacted].  My home insurance had taken photos of the roof before the awning was installed.  There were photos taken again after the installation of the awning for the insurance company.  As far as the amount of slope on the awning, I did mention to Mr. B[redacted] that it needed to be sufficient for runoff.  I would modify and drop the wooden floor of the deck if needed.  This whole fiasco has nothing to do with clearance.  It has everything to do with the shoddy workmanship and installation. As for being rude to Oscar; I guess Roger B[redacted] somehow believes that I should have been chipper and have a smiley face after all the aggravation and all the repetitious problems he has caused me.  Please note that I have photos, dates, text messages to back up my claim.  At one time while on a telephone call with Mr. B[redacted], he asked me for my mailing address in order to send the receipt and warranty.  I gave it to him and also texted it to him.  As you know, the receipt and warranty was never received.  I also have contact information for all persons mentioned/involved if needed.I appreciate your time, and hope that this detailed explanation will help resolve this issue.  I plead with you to please assist me.  Thank you.Sincerely,[redacted]
