The restaurant issued a full refund Friday, May 8 – but I also want the owner to honor any late fees or overdraft charges I might face.
 
The refund process was both frustrating and hilarious. The restaurant owner told me that I needed...

to go to the restaurant to let someone swipe my debit card. I called the owner shortly before I went to the restaurant. He was not there, but said the waiter or manager would issue the refund, and he would “walk them through” the process. First, the waiter issued a refund for $50,001.46 (he was trying for $5,001.46). The manager brought a third man in to help with the refund while the owner screamed mightily over the phone.
 
This third man entered a $5001.46 refund, but had difficulties because the computer added tax to that amount. The waiter asked if I could come back later, and I yelled a bit myself (although not as lustily as the owner who was till screaming over the phone). I was upset because it had already taken a week to correct this error, and now the waiter wanted me to wait longer and make a second trip. The manager was extremely polite and soothing and insisted that they would find a way to issue the refund immediately.
 
Finally, they managed a $5,000 refund. The restaurant manager offered me $2 out of his own wallet for the difference. I refused, saying $5,000 was the important amount. The third man asked me to sign the cash register receipt for the refund.
 
I later looked at my bank statement and saw a refund from the Bombay Grill for $5,001.49. They must have cancelled the $5,000 refund as well and issued a new one.
