Bob's Auto Center

Review: I called [redacted] the owner of Bob's Auto Center to get an estimate on a job for my car. I wanted to get shocks, struts, and springs put on the car along with a bushing kit and then re-aligning the car after. He estimated to me around $300.00 for the job but stated will have to re-estimate once he got the car in. I dropped off my car and all of the parts which I already paid for. He still did not give me an updated estimate. I called him earlier and stated that I had $500 for the whole job and could not go over that amount. To my understanding car shops will call and give an estimate before they get started. I was still not given an estimate, just an estimated time of completion. He said two days. This is now the third day so I called to get an update. He started on the front and was still not finished and hasn't even started on the back. I asked him at that point about how much he thinks it's going to be for the whole job. He stated that just for finishing the front it would be "a little over $500" this is after I told him that I could not pay over $500 for the WHOLE job. So he started on the work without giving me an estimate and then is telling me it is MORE than what I told him I had available and thats not even for HALF the job.Desired Settlement: I want him to stick to his original quote of "around $300." This means no less than $200 and no more than $400. I'd be happy if he stuck with what I originally told him of me having only $500 for the job. I feel that he should of called and given me an estimate before he got started on the work because if I knew it was going to be that much for just half the work I would not have taken the car to him. I have contacted him to settle. He stated a little over $500 for just the front.
