Bob Conte General Contracting and Home Improvement

Review: In April 2014 we gave Bob Conte of Bob Conte General Construction a deposit of $1,325.00 to build a Portico over door entry. We did not hear from him, every time we spoke it was because we called or texted him. He then advised that his father was ill and dying, which we were understanding about. We just decided since he could not do the job that he just return our money. As of today Friday, September 4, 2015 we have not heard a word from him and not received our money. We would like our deposit bank. He has since stopped returning texts and phone calls.Desired Settlement: I would like my money refunded.

Review: I contracted Conte Construction to build a deck on our new house for $16,330 on August 8, 2014. A deposit of $5,610.00 was made on August 15, 2014. The project was started in late November 2014 and a second payment for $5,610.00 was made on December 1, 2014. Over the next 4 months no construction was done as Conte claimed he couldn't get delivery of the decking material. In April of 2015 he claimed his father was dying from cancer, had only days to live and was totally overwhelmed. In understanding, I asked him to contact me at the appropriate time. After three weeks I contacted him via email to inquire of the situation. I continued to attempt to contact him via emails and telephone calls with no response. In early June I filed a consumer complaint with the Delaware States Attorney Generals office and filed a consumer fraud complaint with the New Castle Police.Desired Settlement: Restitution for the additional cost to complete the project.
