Pool was installed, followed by upgraded stamped concrete. Kline was on site for the pour. Two days later, we discovered significant cracks near the edging.
I immediately contacted the relations manager: Laurie Robinson, who advised that she would pass the information to Kline. Lack of communication is a primary downfall of this company. We were never provided with a method of direct communication with the site supervisor, who also happens to be the owner: Kline. Robinson plays the role of a buffer for any complaints or concerns. I found that Robinson knows little about the pool industry and therefore could never provide answers, however was quick to engage in arguments, terminate calls by hanging up, and deflect from the issues. I fully anticipate her response to this post will be that we were rude or loud. I honestly would categorize our conversations as increasingly heated, due to the fact that they were quick to cash my checks in excess $72,000, yet leave our project unfinished for 5 weeks. Total no show. Blue Lagoon initiated another job, leaving my property with mounds of dirt and stone. I have three dogs who inevitably destroyed our carpet with mud for over a month. Kline eventually returned and tried to advise us that the cracks fell within the concrete industry standard. Two separate concrete experts completely disagreed and advised that, over time, this will fall into my pool. Kline offered an extended 2 year warranty on the concrete. We requested an addendum to the contract. That obviously never occurred. Approaching week 6, and the final date of completion per their contract, Kline and crew returned. My husband, once again, expressed his concern about the water run-off. Kline advised that they would create a swale, which would redirect the water flow away from the pool. That evening, we were hit with a severe storm.
Both Kline and Robinson responded. The entire meeting was a deflection session: the builder and Spring Township. During the conversation with Kline, I asked him to conference with Spring Township, so that our clean-up effort and potential drainage solutions were in compliance. Both my husband and I at this point are understandably upset. Kline, in our presence, was laughing on the phone with the township codes inspector and asks him if he wants a dozen eggs. Kline advised that he would have his crew respond tomorrow to begin evacuating the mud and stone from my pool. Both of us were at work, when my neighbor alerted us to the fact that our pool was in the process of even more destruction, as there was a Blue Lagoon worker in my pool with a snow shovel. I made notification through my attorney that Blue Lagoon could no longer enter my property. We have initiated litigation. A quick Google search will enlighten you to the fact that I may not be the first person required to take this route. FYI, this is what a snow shovel will do fiberglass. My husband worked in masonry and I work in the Real Estate industry. We both recognize that issues arise in a project of this size and accept that. What we will not accept, however, is the manner in which we were treated. Money aside, my primary goal is to share our story so that another family who takes pride in their home and works hard to save for a pool will have all the facts available prior to making the tremendous mistake I have made with entrusting my home to Laurie Robinson, Todd Kline and Blue Lagoon Pools.
