Review: April 8, 2014 I signed a contract with Blackburn Construction to replace the metal roof on my dwelling. The contract price is $8400 and required 10% at signing. I paid by $900 by check which was cashed shortly thereafter. There is no end date on the contract but my letter requesting a proposal stated we wanted the work done in the spring of 2014.In mid-summer 2014 [redacted] (owner) told us he would start in a couple days. I called in mid-August and [redacted] said he was waiting for a weather forecast to be free of rain for three days and that he hadnt been able to do the roof due to wet weather all summer. I called again on September 22, 2014 and told [redacted] the current forecast was calling for 6 consecutive days of dry weather. He stated it was raining right then in [redacted]. He stated he had health problems and stated hed be here Tuesday Sept 23 and return the money we paid at signing. He has not returned any money nor has he made any further offer. October 2, 2014 I sent [redacted] a certified letter asking for return of the signing money by October 10, 2014. The letter was received October 8, 2014 but we have not heard from [redacted].Desired Settlement: We want the signing money, $900, to be returned by October 25,2014.
