ON 7/5/13,8:30 A.M., I WENT TO THIS STORE, PURCHASED A DRINK, GUM AND 2 PASTRIES([redacted]),AND ASKED FOR CHANGE TO RIDE THE #43 BUS. THE PASTRIES WERE ON A RACK NEAR THE ENTRANCE DOOR, A SIGN THAT READ 75CENTS, 2 FOR A $1 WAS POSTED ON THE RACK (I HAVE A COPY OF THAT SIGN). I GAVE THE ELDERLY MAN $20. WHILE ON THE BUS (3-4 MINUTES LATER), I NOTICE THAT I HAD BEEN SHORT-CHANGED. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE STORE LATER THAT MORNING TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I WAS TOLD NO MISTAKE HAD BEEN MADE, THE 2 PASTRIES WERE MARKED 99 CENTS. I EXPLAINED ABOUT THE SIGN,AND THAT ON 6/28/13 AND 7/1/13 I HAD PURCHASED TWO OF THE SAME-TYPE PASTRIES AND PAID $1 EACH TIME FOR THE TWO. (ON 6/28/13, I ASKED THE MIDDLE-AGED MAN WORKING THE REGISTER IF THE SIGN WAS CORRECT, THE YOUNGER MAN WAS THERE, HE WAS THE ONE THAT SAID THE SIGN WAS CORRECT, THAT EVERYTHING ON THAT RACK WAS 75 CENTS, 2 FOR A $1.) THE ELDERLY MAN SPOKE TO THE YOUNGER MAN IN THEIR NATIVE TONGUE, DID NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE SAYING. WAS TOLD THEY MADE NO MISTAKE IN CHARGING ME 99 CENTS EACH FOR THE PASTRIES. I SAID IF THE SIGN WAS CORRECT, WHY WAS I NOT CHARGED 75 CENTS AS THE SIGN SAID. THEY SAID BECAUSE THE PACKETS READ 99 CENTS. PEOPLE I SPOKE TO THAT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEM NOT CHARGING THE CORRECT PRICE ON PRODUCTS TO THEM. ONE YOUNG MAN TOLD ME THAT THEY WANTED HIM TO PAY THEM $2+ TO USE THE ATM MACHINE, THAT IF HE DIDN'T PAY THEM THE MONEY HE COULD NOT USE THE ATM AND TOLD HIM TO LEAVE. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IF YOU USE AN ATM MACHINE NOT CONNECTED TO YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION, THE ATM MACHINE PLACES THE FEE, NOT FOR YOU TO GIVE MONEY TO THE EMPLOYEES WHERE THE ATM IS LOCATED.
