I had taken my car to bill grant ford. It had a water pump issue which resulted in it needing a new engine. It took a full month for the engine swap do mostly to extended warranty and the service dept going back and forth on parts and cost. It was replaced with a used engine and my warranty paid for 15.6 hours of labor which is what the going labor rate is for that particular job. I was told it would take them 22 and I would have to pay the remaining labor. I argued this with the service dept but got no where. I then spoke with Scott who is the service manager and I had told him I understood small parts I would be responsible for but my deductible was only 200 and I didn't plan on paying much more than that. He said it would be at least 500 but could be over 1000. I said I'm going to throw a fit about 500 and he said if your going to throw a fit about $500 I would rather not do the work for you. My husband called them at this point and asked if we picked it up to take it somewhere else what would it cost. Scott said over $300. We decided to leave it there at that point rather than pay $300 for a car that is broke down. When we picked up the car our cost was $630 they did charge us for 7 hours of labor. I spoke to the owner and told him I was unhappy with how things went and that I didn't feel his service manager was very professional. He did apologize. When we went to get in our car it would not start. We had to get a jump start from the owner because they failed to charge our battery. Approx a month later the engine light started flashing and lost all power. We had it towed to bill grant the following day they looked at it and said the engine light was off and it was running ok they needed to drive it but it needed back brakes and rotors. We had them at home to put on but told them to go ahead and do it so they could drive it. After 2 days of driving it they still couldn't figure out what was wrong besides misfire in cylinder 1 and 5. I was told at this point they could not recommend any parts because the engine light was still off but I would owe for the tow and the diagnostic charge. They did not diagnose anything. I don't feel there should be anything go wrong with it after not even having it back a month! Nor should I of been charged for the diagnostic testing. They did the motor swap therefore they should be responsible for the diagnostics if my engine light comes on!
