*** *** In receipt of the recent complaint submitted to the Revdex.com in regards to the bathroom tiling job completed July 14, 2016, we understand that there seems to be a dispute over a billing issueThe customer is upset due to the fact that the previous job done by Best Handyman has all
appropriate discounts subtracted from total in all boxes (shown in picture #2)This particular job was handwritten and given to the ***’s on site The original quote for the shower installation was a bigger project that needed more thought and research, which resulted in the quote needing to be emailed at a later time of date (shown in picture #4)Please note that the customer was emailed this several times, claiming they received the entire body of the email and ONLY had trouble viewing the attached PDF file, which they later received a hard copy ofThis is the duplicate of the email body they were sent: Mrand Mrs*** Thank you for your patience in the estimating processThe attached file is a LABOR only estimateAll applicable advertised coupons have been applied to the listed pricesThe cost of materials is separate and purchased by the customer or billed to you separately by the craftsmanPlease remember that all of our work includes a one year warranty, and we are fully insured for your protection Before work begins Dan will provide you with a written contract detailing all work relating to the projectPlease call ###-###-#### to schedule the start date when you are readyUntil then, we look forward to working with you Thank you, Best Regards, *** *** Best Handyman Office: ###-###-#### Please note that the email clearly states “all applicable advertised coupons have been applied to the listed prices”This shows after reading, they should have fully understood the contractAlso take into consideration that the ***’s requested a price quote with separate labor pricesThis being one of the reasons all coupons were deducted beforehand to accommodate the unique pricing situationWe do apologize for any confusion on our partHowever, we do feel as though we have ultimately made it clear to the customer that the pricing they received had the coupon previously subtractedWe would also like to point out that no coupon was ever presented to the craftsman at the time of due payment nor when the final price was signed off onThis is confirmed by picture #5, clearly showing that the customer still has their coupon The next complaint stating that the craftsman broke the shower head is entirely falseThis shower head never functioned properlyThe craftsman installed the shower head correctly, but pointed out to Mrs*** that the defect in the shower head could not be remedied by the craftsmanOur craftsman offered advice on opting for more durable products and locations where those products could be foundWe cannot be held liable for faulty items purchased by the homeownerIn addition, the craftsman even volunteered to come back and install the new shower head free of chargeOnto picture # where the craftsman apparently dropped mortar, we do apologize for any minute amount of miscellaneous particles that have been left behindBefore this complaint, the customer had never voiced their dissatisfaction with the cleanup processIf we had any knowledge of this, we would have no issue to clean up any small debris left behindHowever, we do apologize for the inconvenience causedUnfortunately, due to the nature of construction work there are at times small amounts of material left behind that can remain after waste is bagged, removed, and sweptAnother complaint was that there was a brick planter that was stainedThere are no photographs, but the craftsman assured that there were absolutely no dyes or solvents of any kind used in this shower projectBoth front and back patios are poured concrete and we are confident that no materials used during the shower project could cause permanent aesthetic or functional damage to the surface of the areas in questionWe truly believe the customers are entirely happy with their shower installation (Please see attached and signed contract)We not only applied the $coupon prior to the start date, but later waived a $upcharge for installing shelves, accent strip, and the inconvenience the plumber causedAltogether this totals a deduction of $The customer has indeed received the lowest possible priceUnfortunately, we are unable to take any more money off of this project that is clearly signed and dated that they were satisfied with all the work completed Thank You, *** *** Owner of Best Handyman

Best Handyman stands by the customer satisfaction policy. We have reached out to this customer multiple times to resolve the complaint. We are more than happy to resolve any defects in the work that the customer claims, as long as it is reasonable and within our stated warranty. Unfortunately, we have been unable to make contact via the customer’s landline or cell phone numbers that were provided, and have left messages asking them to contact us. Best Handyman would like to make clear that the additive to the grout was a professional product that is designed to be used with the grout provided by the customer and is intended to enhance the grout's properties, not impair them. Also, the customer was instructed to wait a minimum of 24 hours before the shower was used. If this guideline was not followed, the company cannot be responsible for failure of materials. Our goal, as always is to provide a quality end product. If for any reason the product is unsatisfactory we will do our best to rectify that, as we are attempting to do so in this situation. We also implement a low to high price range on our contracts due to the possibility of unforeseen issues or complications arising during the work process. This is put in place not only to protect the contractor, but the customer as well. The customer agreed to this price range prior to the project start date. They also signed the contract verifying they were comfortable with those parameters. The customer was not charged the highest price. He was charged in the middle range. This price reflects the tile the customer purchased, not the shower design options. We also deducted $250 from the customer’s bill for the upcharge of shelving, accent strip installation, and plumbing inconvenience. We would love the opportunity to remedy this situation if indeed the customer is having difficulties with their shower. All the customer has to do is call the office and we can promptly send the craftsman over to settle any disputes.

This response is totally unacceptable. We now also have noticed holes and gaps in the grout developing at least a half dozen and more developing daily. I went to a shop to ask a true expert about this and he said the sealer should not be mixed into grout but applied over. This is the reason for the grout developing holes and gaps. Also now the caulking is pulling away from the tile and tub. My expert told me it was not cleaned correctly before caulking. This shabby workmanship is a reason for people to avoid using this company, they need to be warned. If you look at the contract there was a range of pricing, even after thier so called discount for a plumber that didnt show up till 3 1/2 hours late and was still working in our bathroom till almost 9 pm. And thier so called coupon which I believe is a scam, the price we paid was still near the top of the quote. Beware everyone get a firm ceiling price with any contractor. Also make sure they stick to it. Make sure they also clean up before paying them.

This was our first time using Best Handyman and we were so impressed with the promptness, quality of work and prices. Great service, great work, and great prices. On top of that, [redacted] was great with our dog and cat trying to "help" him with the jobs. We will be using them for everything around our house in the future!
[redacted] did a great job designing and building our balcony. He also put in a few exterior doors too. He was a pleasure to work with.
called no one returned my call was told they had phone trouble they set appointment for following Tuesday 9 Am no call no show done waiting for them
Carpenters from Best Handyman did some repairs to the siding on my garage. The work was very well done, the site was thoroughly cleaned up, and everyone was friendly and pleasant. The work was also done very promptly after.I received the quote. Overall, a very good experience with this business. I would definitely call them for other repairs I might need.
Review: I feel that I was ripped off by BEST-HANDYMAN on a job I had them do 1-2mos. ago. They did most of the job correctly except for a second outdoor railing that was not put in because the craftsman said it wouldn't work out. I let the second railing go, but shortly after that, when studying my receipt/invoice, I noticed that the cost of the labor to put the railing in and the cost of the second railing itself, wasn't subtracted from my final bill. I was already in the process of hiring them for a different job. I contacted the office about the problem with the previous job thinking they could subtract what they owed me from the new bill. The person in the office said they couldn't do that and proceeded to alternate between being rude/nasty/laughing at me. She also told me that the same guy who did the first job would have to come out again to finish the first job after I told her I didn't want that man in my house again. It was either that or nothing. I canceled the current job and told them I'd never do business with them again. They couldn't care less.Desired Settlement: I would like what they owe me refunded and this company put on the Revdex.com's bad business list.

Response:
[redacted] contacted our office asking if she could receive a free estimate from a craftsman for a 2nd job she needed done. I dispatched our craftsman [redacted] to the customers home. [redacted] called the office explaining that customer wanted additional money off of his estimate since she only had one handle bar installed, not two as written on the contract from the FIRST contractor, [redacted], on a previous job. I asked [redacted] to have the customer contact the office, but because they are separate jobs and craftsmen, I would be unable to offer money off the 2nd estimate but work something out with the customers wants. [redacted] contacted the office the next day and spoke with [redacted]. She explained that when the contractor was at her home the first time, she CHOSE to not have the 2nd handle bar installed because she didn't like the way it looked or where it was going to be. So, the customer had the craftsman ([redacted]), drive back to the store to return the bar. Because of the extra steps involved, we charged the customer the low end of the agreed & signed contract price. [redacted] said she changed her mind now and wants either the handle bar installed or money off the current separate estimate. [redacted] told her that [redacted] would be contacting her from the office the next day once we go through the paperwork. [redacted] (myself), called [redacted] the next day and I gladly offered [redacted] a FREE install, no charge install by [redacted]. I let her know that once she had the handle bar to call us to schedule the install, she said that we would have to go shopping for her. At that point in time, I informed her that we would be charging a $25 service fee to go shopping for her, due to costs of extra time and trips and the fact that this was stemmed from her original decision to not have the 2nd handle bar installed the first time. [redacted] told me that she would think about it and that she would call back. [redacted] called back approx. 20 minutes later. All in one breathe, she informed me that we can cancel her 2nd estimate and that she would not be using us again, and that we don't want to work with her because she is elderly. I was unable to speak before she hung up on me. I was going to try to work with her some more on the phone but she hung up. I know now that she was unhappy with our offer, but at no point in time was I mean or rude or dare laugh at her. Our customers are wonderful and a great percentage elderly, which is one of the most rewarding parts of owning this business. Helping our customers is what we strive for. I have a signed contract by the customer stating that she was satisfied with the work done and she paid as well. I did not mean to make her upset, but when she called back then hung up, I didn't want to contact her and agitate her more. I am still willing to give her FREE labor installation once she has the handle bar.

Response:
[redacted] signed a contract in full agreement that she was satisfied with all work completed. A few
months later, [redacted] contacted the office and informed us that one of the railings handbar that she originally
purcbased (one out of two) she had cbanged her mind while our craftsman ([redacted].) was there and she asked
him to return the material, which he did, no additional charge, she NOW decided that she does in fact want
it installed. Those were her exact words to me ([redacted]) on the phone. There was not any complaint
regarding the craftsman or anything else at this point in time.
We informed her that we would come back out and install the handbar at no charge as a courtesy to the
being a customer and wanting more future work done. We stated that once she had the handbar, to call us
to schedule the instalL ThlS is where the only problem arose. [redacted] then changed her tone and told us that
we would have to go shopping for her and then do the installation. Not a problem at all, however our
contract states that we offer a warranty on all LABOR not shopping services, and that there would be a
nominal $25 fee payable to the craftsman for going personal shopping for the material. Only at that time
did [redacted] start changing her story, complaining about our craftsman stating that we were "out to
get her because of her age" and bung up on me. ([redacted])
The next step of her action was to contact the Revdex.com. We submitted a rebuttal. Sbe submitted yet another
complaint [([redacted]) talked to someone in the Revdex.com asking for time due to [redacted].
Here we are, today. I chose to not contact [redacted] directly as to not agitate her any further. We
stand by our policies, but were willing to bend those policies until she said there was nothing we could do
for her. We are still offering that we install the handbar at NO CHARGE once she has the handbar in her
possession. If a copy of the signed contract is needed, we have that on tile.
I am deeply hurt that someone would make false assumptions regarding the viewsfbeliefs of our family
business. We value every single customer and strive do achieve 100% satisfaction. We have nothing
against [redacted] and would like the chance to make her happy.
Sincerely,
Best Handyman Services LLC
