Review: I filed my 2011 local income tax return with [redacted]. I was owed a refund of $10.39, which I never received. [redacted] filed for bankruptcy and Berkheimer Associates was awarded the contract to issue refunds. I have been trying to obtain my refund for the last couple of years. This year I contacted [redacted], which currently handles local income taxes for Green Tree Borough. After some back and forth I was told that Berkheimer Associates claims that a refund in the amount of $10 was issued on 07/01/13. No evidence was provided to support this claim, and I never received the refund.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my refund of $10.39, or at least be provided with a canceled check or some other evidence that the refund was paid.

We have received your letter dated April 24, 2015 concerning the above named party. BecauseBerkheimer Tax Administrator is a duly appointed local tax collector and the complaint at issue pertainsto the collection of loca taxes and confidential tax information, it is our position that the BetterBusiness Bureau does not have the jurisdiction or authority to consider taxpayer disputes concerningthe collection of local taxes. Rather, the taxpayer is afforded certain rights and remedies, including theright to certain administrative appeals, under Pennsylvania’s Local Tax Enabling Act, Local TaxCollection Law and the Local Taxpayers Bill of Rights that he or she may evoke.However, with that stated, it is Berkheimer’s position to resolve any disputes or complaintsfrom a taxpayer amicably where possible.
