We had said plumbing company come to said residence to assess a plumbing issue. My wife was home at this time. Technician Tom came over and told her he was sorry that he had to charge her extra because he had to remove the toilet. Tom stated he was only clearing the drain to be able to run a scope he was not cleaning it. Tom snaked it and pulled out some roots then waited for 4 hours for tech Alan to arrive with the scope. I arrived home from work at this time and we watched the scope in which there were no obstructions but Tom insisted we replace the main line for $20,000.00, in which he said he could get us financed. Tom was told we don't want any credit lines opened. Tom called his bank and we weren't able to be financed enough. Tom was persistent in replacing the line and continued to tell us what to do. Tom made us sign paperwork stating it was his normal paperwork that showed he tried to help us but it was actually a credit card application that was signed after he ran our credit. Tech Tom supposedly emailed our receipt to my wife but she never received it. My wife called the next day and still nothing. This went on for 5 days. On the fifth day we received credit cards in the mail,my wife called because she was not happy about this and miraculously she got an email containing the receipt. This company is very unprofessional, rude, and disappointing due to their untimely responses. My wife was informed she would be contacted by a superior and has still not heard anything from the company regarding the prices, work performed, or the way we were treated in the most unprofessional ways. No means no it does not mean that you should belittle people and aggressively peruse unnecessary work. Their prices are ridiculously inflated and unjust. Their technicians are glorified salesmen and don't truly believe in helping people or doing their job with the utmost pride.

Had another company come to check our sewer line, our line is fine and isn't in need of replacement at all! The company gave me a video and pictures showing nothing is wrong with our sewer line other then tree roots that are easily taken care of. Benjamin Franklin shouldn't use scare tactics to try and get people to replace their sewer lines for a ridiculous amount of money! I worry about all the older people who are falling for this!! Not to mention they opened a credit card in our name when we were told it was a credit line check only!! ***

I am rejecting this response because: I would like an explanation as to why we were told we needed a new sewer line and why we ended up getting a credit card in the mail when we specifically said we did not want to open another credit card beings we were not going to be having our sewer line redone. This is ridiculous! I'd like to know that no one else is going to get this type of treatment seems like it's only about $. Disappointing that people will use scare tactics to push you into things that's over priced and unnecessary. If we wouldn't have gotten a second opinion we would be paying for something that doesn't need done. With an option of $7,000 or $18,000 completely outrageous. Many people wouldn't no any better that's to think especially when I live in a neighborhood with alot of older people that constantly get taken advantage of anyway! Running a good successful business includes having standards and morals!

We mailed a check #11911 dated 10/24/17 in the amount of $371.00 to Mr. to resolve this concern.
HORRIBLE! They gave a warranty on a home that we own and they did very poor work and then refused to honor the warranty. Their warranties are as good as TP and their workmanship should last more than 3 years. They replaced the sewer line and did such a poor job that now, a short 3 years later, the line has multiple “bellies” and is holding up to 3” or 4” of water in multiple locations and will not drain. when I called them it took 4 weeks for them to FINALLY come to a conclusion that they will not be honoring their “iron clad 20 year” warranty. In fact, they will do NOTHING about it. Excuses, excuses. Talk about getting struck by lightening….. only this time in the keister. I know the late great Mr. F himself would roll over in his grave should he find out his name is being used to perpetuate poor workmanship and lies - two things that where not part of his character. Perhaps the people who have stolen the name of our founding father should acquire a pair of the bifocals he invented and in so doing obtain a more clear sighted view of reality.
On 2/25/17 I called Benjamin Franklin to come out because I had water leaking in my downstairs laundry room, and they had 2 technicians come out. They performed a drain cleaning and put a camera into the pipes, and charged me $664.. They told me that I had tree roots coming in where the pipes connected that were so bad they could not be taken care of with a normal drain cleaning. They quoted me two options or I would continue to have issues with my sewer line backing up - 1. $14,727 to do a sewer line replacement. 2. $6,462 to install a 2-way clean out.
I spent four months saving up money to get it taken care of, but luckily decided to call *** to come out and give me a second quote. They came out in June and charged me $180 to do a sewer line inspections. After inspecting the technician pretty much told me that I was taken advantage of. I'm not sure if it was because I am female and a single parent, or just because I would not know any better because I have not experience in plumbing. He re-cleaned my pipes, because he said the previous technician had either not cleaned them or just done a bad job so it would appear like I needed to have more work done.
Here is exactly what the technician from *** wrote on my invoice - "Overall line is clean and in good condition. No holes, breaks, cracks, offsets or low spots. Roots only growing at joints, no replacing pipes needed. He said that it can easily be maintained by having them come out every year and a half or two years, and their cleaning was $129.

I am rejecting this response because:
I talked to Jason on the phone yesterday, and we went over both sides of the story and my request. He is following up with someone in the office and let me know he would get back to me.

Hi ***,I just wanted to give you an update on ***.Our Account Manager did receive a call back from her this afternoon. We went out to her home on 2/25/17 for a clogged drain. Our drain technician cleared her main line and cameraed the line and suggested that she have a Project Manager come take a look at it since there were concerns about the root intrusion issue. Our Project Manager gave her Straight Forward Price for a line replacement. Her neighbor had used us in the past and was very pleased with our service and that's why Ms. called us. What we offered her was a long-term solution to a continual problem rather than an ongoing short term solution. The roots will continue to grow and compromise the line. Our Account Manager will address this issue with our General Manager next week and we will call her back to see what resolution we can reach with her.We will update you once we have that conversation with her.Regards,Cindy W

Thank you for taking the time to review my issue and respond. I did want to add a few things to the summary you provided though while this is being reviewed. Your tech did provide a long term solution, but it was also presented as the only solution, even after I expressed concern with how expensive those two options were. Unsolicited he also asked me if I planned on selling my house soon. I told him I did plan on selling within the next year or two, and he suggested that I sell the house sooner. Even after that he did not provide me with another solution. My concern is that I hire a professional to assist me when I have issues with something that I am not an expert in. All of the options should be presented to customers so they can make the best decision for themselves with full information, and it should definitely not be just the expensive options that are presented.
I'm not sure how my friend's referral was relevant in your summary to the issue. I did come to your company through a referral because they were happy with the work that was done, but now after my experience and doing some research they worry that they probably overpaid for their work.
Regards
Our Project Manager went to Ms.’s home on 2/25/17 and determined that her main drain line needed to be cleared. Our drain technician was called out, cleared the drain and cameraed her drain line. The camera showed that roots had penetrated the drain line and Ms. was given a straight forward price to replace her drain line or install 2-way clean-outs. 2-way clean-outs are a code requirement.
We offered those options to her as a permanent solution to a drain issue. Tree roots will continue to grow and the client can have regular drain cleaning but that is only a temporary solution.
We were called out to clear her drain, which we did and feel that we did what we were asked to do. Ms. signed our invoice stating that the work we performed was done to her satisfaction.
