Before and After Community Rehabilitation Program

On January 23, 2020, I paid *** (***) ***, who presents as the director of a rehab or life coaching program Before and After, $144.00 for the required membership fee toward the first month residence for my adult son into the program. *** immediately cased that check at a Check in to Cash because he has no bank account.
*** stated that he operates two group homes for men and showed me a photo of one of the houses. He stated he has funding sources that include grant money from Mental Health Cooperative and other sources and money from local churches. Further, *** specifically said that all money was fully refundable should my son not enter or stay in the residential program for any reason.
I was candid with *** and detailed to him the problems my son is experiencing with a detailed account of the related personal history. My son and I met with *** at the *** coffee house in *** when I gave him a personal check for the initial $144 for the required membership fee. On January 27, 2020 I paid by check $500.50 which he came to my job to collect. *** seemed in dire financial straits and immediately went to my bank to cash the check because he has no bank account and a cursory check of the internet reveals he declared personal bankruptcy fourth quarter 2019. As soon as *** cashed the check for $500.50, he immediately declined to admit *** to the Before and After residential program stating that he was not aware of his mental health issues. Same day I came home from work and had to involve Metro Police and the Mobile Crisis team and *** ended up at Middle Tennessee Mental Health on Stewarts Ferry. *** provided confusing and erroneous information to include his status of special privilege that would allow him to visit *** at *** at any time. The fact is that he told me he went to the facility and was denied access to ***.
