We were only refunded $96 of our $450 security deposit. We do not dispute the $99 for carpet cleaning as we were unable to deep clean the carpets before we left (though they were vacuumed thoroughly); however, they are charging $235 for a deep clean and $20 for drip pans on the stove. We regretfully overlooked one drawer when packing, and their other pictures show a few crumbs or dirt flecks or dust, which we would have happily cleaned had we been able to attend the inspection, which they scheduled at a time when we were unable to attend. Any cleaning that had to be done should not have cost $235: a professional apartment cleaner assisted us in cleaning the apartment, the oven was cleaned (but old), and the drip pans were spotless. Furthermore, on our move-in date (a Sunday, 12/31/17), we were unable to take possession because the toilets were used and filthy, as were the floors; and it took both us and the apartment maintenance man working on New Year's Day to clean the apartment for us to be able to move in on January 2, two days after we were to have taken possession. The site manager steadfastly refuses to allow us to contact ***. By scheduling the appointment when we could not make arrangements to attend, they effectively kept us from reclaiming our own things (an oversight) and allowing us to make right any wrongs. Both the professional apartment cleaner who helped us and another Bee Creek resident can testify to the utter cleanliness of the apartment when we left, and $255 is an exorbitant fee to correct the minor specks left behind.
Our company Bee Creek Apartment Homes has received a letter from the Revdex.com Dispute Resolution Department in regards to a former resident that is not satisfied with their refund of the security deposit along with the time of their move out inspection. The move out inspection day/times are always scheduled the day after the lease expires unless it falls on the weekend or a holiday (which was the case with this particular resident, then it’s always on the next business day). We then send out the exact time of the inspection a week prior for the resident to make arrangements for someone to be present if able. Times start at 10am and go in 15 minute increments, we understand some residents are unable to be present and we have to go on with the inspection as scheduled.
Upon this resident’s move out the unit did not pass the move out inspection due to several items being dirty. Drawers/cabinets were filthy, fans, baseboards, the stove’s drip pans were damaged and had to be replaced, etc. D ue to this fact our cleaning contractor had to come in before the unit could be re-rented. All cleaning charges are invoiced to us and are then deducted from the resident’s security deposit. I looked into their move in experience, and they did have some issues they were unhappy about. These were resolved to their satisfaction at that time. We do appreciate them being former residents and enjoyed their time with us; however, the move out refund of $96 still stands.
