I am writing to you regarding the service that I received from Bedell Home Services beginning on 2-26-2020. I called the company I have been using for over 20 years (***) to find out that they had joined with Bedell Home Services.
I called on the morning of 2-26-2020 because my furnace fan would not kick on. The first technician came out and said there was a burnt wire and supposedly replaced a sequencer. (However, his receipt says that it will need this part in the future.) He left saying it was fixed however the furnace was still doing the same thing.
I called the company back within an hour and they sent out a senior technician, who proceeded to tell me there were several other burnt wires (that were not there the first time), which obviously was caused by the first technician, so he proceeded to replace them however the fan still did not kick into high. He then told me the fan motor was bad, so I called my husband to explain the problem and the technician said Oh let me try one more thing, so he then replaced the capacitor on the blower motor and the furnace kicked onto high. He then left saying it was fixed. However, the fan continues to run even with being turned off with the thermostat.
So, I turned the furnace off on the furnace and called the company again on the morning of 02-27-2020. They sent the same senior technician who was supposed to bring the owner out with him. He did not. He was now said the wiring is bad and the furnace needs a new heat pack (a $550 fix). I had the technician talk to my husband on the phone and he handed me the phone and walked out because my husband questioned his repairs, hence the furnace is still not fixed.
I had to call another company out on 2-28-2020, only to find that the Bedell had mis wired several connections. The Technician from the new company rewired the furnace and discovered that due to the miswiring the Compressor Contactor on my outside HVAC unit was damaged and that my AC will not work until I have that repaired and additional $300. He also stated that my thermostat may have some damage as well because it to had a high voltage wire connected to it as well as to the compressor contactor on my HVAC system.
I have enclosed the bill from the 2nd repair company and the estimate to get this repaired. I have not paid Bedell and I do not feel that I should have to since nothing was repaired only damaged.
I feel that Bedell is guilty of deceptive practices they were attempting to repair items that did not and still do not need replaces such as the blower fan and then the Power Pac.
I t has been 2 weeks since I had the other company out to repair Bedell’s errors, and everything is working fine (except the AC which has not been repaired yet)
When reaching out to Bedell concerning their bill and their errors and I was told that nothing they did by miswiring would affect the outside HVAC unit, apparently they are also not aware that if you wire a high voltage wire to a low voltage component that it will overload the component as it did with the compressor contactor on the HVAC unit and possibly the thermostat .
I feel that Bedell should have to pay for the repairs to my AC unit since it was their incompetent work that caused the damage. I should also not be responsible for the bill from Bedell since nothing was fixed and only damaged.
I would not recommend this company to anyone needing any repairs.
Thank You
Dawn P
Hello Mr & Mrs P,
We are sorry to hear that your service experience was unpleasant. We have been in business for over 30 years and have won numerous awards for our high quality of service over the years. We treat each customer enquiry with the same level of importance that every customer deserves.
I read through the notes in your complaint and investigated internally on the sequence of events and communication that transpired over a few days while we were on site.
My investigation tells me that we did miss diagnosing a couple of faulty wires during our first visit but we had always recommended replacing the heat pack. We also had prepared only one invoice that we shared with you for the first visit which we later cancelled because the issue was not resolved and you chose to get the work done through another vendor.
We stand by our second diagnosis by our senior technician and we agree that it is completely your decision to pursue who you like to service your equipment.
However, we cannot pay for the services of another Company but what we can do is not charge you for the 3 service trips we had made which we are not going to which was clearly communicated to you the day after you emailed us your receipts from the other vendor.
We take pride in what we do and also hold ourselves accountable for our mistakes.
We certainly do not appreciate any bad or foul language targeted towards our employees as was the case here by Mr P towards my senior technician.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 14213536, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I would like to first state that when they stated they waived the 3 service trip charges is false, please see the attached email from the company stating they were only waiving the $89 service charge. Second, why would I pay additional service call charges for them to come back to fix their errors they caused. I will not be paying them a dime, for doing nothing but causing damage to my AC unit.
As for the foul language comment this is also not true, unless questioning the service techs ability and deceptive sales techniques, when trying to sell me something I did not need is considered foul language. It is obvious that the first tech rewired the system incorrectly which caused additional wires to burn. I feel that trying to sell me a fan motor and a heat bank that was not needed is just common practice for them. Neither of these products had to be replaced.
I would like to state that on all three attempts that they made to repair the furnace not one time did they stay to make sure the furnace was actually repaired before leaving.
I will not be paying Beddell for their services or will I ever use them again. I did use *** for the past 30 years on our homes and rental properties and never had a problem until they merged with this company.
I will also tell everyone I know about the service that I received. I would also like to thank them for costing me an additional $300 to repair their incompetence.
Regards,
Dawn P
Silly people. They don't call and give status in the first place. Very risky to send to a tenant's place. Then, they sent an invoice 30 days later saying it is overdue. Called the billing department and they said all they can do is accept a payment. I am just so anguished. Not even sure if they really changed the pop-up assembly in the lavatory because they did not call and give me a status and they did not run the cost of the part by me either. Dangerous!
I called them to install a reverse flow valve in my basement floor drain. I made them aware that it would need to be snaked out. I was quoted $125. They showed up (didn’t call first as requested) with a shop vac! Fooled around with that a while. Then did an air thing, fooled around with that. At about the 1 hour point they brought in a drain snake, not even a power one! Then informed me it would be $260 to continue. Also said I could ‘save $10 if I didn’t put in the valve’ which was my original service call!! RIDICULOUS. I called to protest that their plumbers are either inexperienced or bill padding and wanted a partial refund. I was told ‘your credit card has already been charged there’s nothing we can do’. How stupid do they think I am!! They also said they’d call back and didn’t! I’ve never paid over $90 to have that floor drain cleared and it never took more than 30 min. I’ve lived here 33 years.
This company has been out to my house twice to look at any repair. I have waited five weeks for them to order parts. I spoke to them two weeks after they came out and they said that they had not you had ordered the part but they would. I waited two more weeks and they still had not received the part. When I spoke to them one week later, The part was never ordered and they said that they weren't interested in doing my job. They were dishonest, they lied about what they said they would do and they received a $50 estimate.
