SERVICE DEPARTMENT: INFINITI FX Car shut off while driving at slow speed, such as a parking lot or slow speed on the road Just shut off while in drive, no lights on the dashboard until of course it shut off, then the battery light came on and probably other lights So, I took the car in and the only code showing was the valve body code I spent $to replace that, got the car back, did it again after driving miles Took the car back, they said they had to "reprogram the valve body", they drove it around about miles and it didn't have a problem Got the car back, drove fine the first day, driving to work - got off the expressway and pulled up to a stop light and it shut off THEN, a couple minutes later, the car completely shut off IN TRAFFIC and almost caused an accident This time I had driven about miles when the problem occurred again Each time I was able to restart by putting in park and restarting as but that morning was extremely dangerous
Infiniti of Coconut Creek (Florida) had a tech come pick up the car at my job and give me a brand new loaner as they had all previous times
Couple things to note: They were able to reproduce the problem when I first brought it in so they didn't think I was nuts, lol Most of the time this happened when I came off a fast, busy road such as an expressway or interstate and then slow down to merge onto a slower road Once I get to that first stop light or stop sign, I got a slight acceleration even though my foot was on the brake and slowing down That was usually my first sign of trouble when I got that slight acceleration that I didn't ask for
Three weeks later, I was finally able to pick up my car again and all seems to be well I have to give special thanks to Infiniti of Coconut Creek for seeing this through, all while providing excellent customer service End result: Fault EVT Control Magnet Rder in both banks During data monitor observation, improper signal sent to the ECM by the EVT Control Rder Replace both bank EVT Control Magnet Rder and check for proper voltage signal All ok Pulled VTC Cover on both banks and replaced Solenoid Gasket NOTE: this particular problem does not throw a code of any kind, so the only way they were able to figure it out was to drive it with a data reader UNTIL the intermittent stall issue presented itself again
Infiniti of Coconut Creek will DEFINITELY get my business again this coming year when I purchase another Infiniti as a second car for the family They went above and beyond to see this through and make sure that the problem was solved This included getting Infiniti USA corporate involved and covering the second repair under some type of warranty AGAIN, seriously above and beyond excellent customer service Infiniti will definitely have my business for years to come I have had many BMW cars and have never gotten this kind of service Thank you!!!
