I would like to again respond to these allegations and clearly state what I sold the customer to avoid confusionPlease note that it is not true that the customer has called me and I did return the only phone call I received from her I installed two doors for the customer One is a sliding glass door, which was paid for by the township she resides in through a grant I did return to make a minor adjustment to the lock on the slider door within a week of installation, and have not heard of any problems since The second door purchased by the customer is an entry door This is the door that I offered to purchase a lock set for the customer, but she refused and wanted to use an inferior set that she purchased As clearly stated on the contract (see attached), the customer insisted on providing the lock and handle set on this door At the time of installation, I informed that customer that this set would most likely become a problem and I could not be responsible for it If there is a problem with the weather stripping, I will fix it However, the customer had no problems with it after installation and has never called me about it I would like it noted that if the weather stripping is ripping at this point, it is wear or tear or someone has torn it I would like to respond to her comment about my profit margins We offered to stain and seal the door for a small additional charge at the time we contracted with the customer, but she chose to do it on her own However, after installation, the customer called to state she was having difficulties staining and sealing the door, so I did this for her at no chargeMy profit margin is irrelevant, but the total cost of this door was $ [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:
  Of course the response from Homeworks Plus, would be that I never called.  I could easily access my phone records showing that I did call, more than once.  Only when I would call a second time would I get a response.  Homeworks Plus takes no accountability for their installation and the statement made by Homeworks Plus "I would like it noted that if the weather stripping is ripping at this point, it is normal wear or tear or someone has torn it.", is exactly what I would expect them to say.  It is of course, the customers fault, that weather stripping underneath a new door should break down in less than a year or we are intentionally ripping it. Their first response was my dog must be doing it, now it must be us. More ludicrous statements. Of course this does not address the issue of the door being warped and the top end protruding out while the bottom end is flush with the trim.In regards to the doorknob and lock,  Homeworks Plus states  "This is the door that I offered to purchase a lock set for the customer, but she refused and wanted to use an inferior set that she purchased."Again, I will restate that Homeworks Plus  fails to mention that he did not provide a doorknob or lock with the door therefore I had no choice but to buy one.   If Homeworks Plus had offered to buy a lock, then logically it  would make no sense for me to accept the lock and knob as it would save me  a trip to purchase one and the lock would be covered by Homeoworks Plus guarantee.  Why would I cause my self an extra burden and no guarantee?  If it was to save a couple dollars then I would have also purchased a much cheaper door.   Again, Homework's Plus takes no accountability and it is the customers fault.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience. We have been in business for 25 years, and have never had any complaints.  We strive to create 100% satisfaction with our customers.  I would like to briefly address the customer’s issues here since there is a lot of detail in the post, however I will...

gladly work with the customer to insure my work and product meets all industry standards.  In July 2013 the customer contracted for an unfinished wood door.  The customer wanted to use her own lock and handle.  I explained that the lock and handle set she owned were poor quality and strongly recommended we use a higher quality set.  The customer insisted on using her existing set.  I also advised the customer to stain and seal the word door within a few weeks.  After approximately a week, the customer called me to ask if I would stain and seal the door at no charge, which I agreed to.   A few weeks after installation, the customer called stating there was a problem with the lock and handle.  I stopped by and made an adjustment, and again explained that the set was poor quality and should be replaced.  At this time the door was flush and working, and there were no other problems.   The customer notes here that the problems occurred in November 2014, but she did not contact me until March 2015.  I offered to look at the door, but the customer stated she would work directly with the manufacturer and hung up.  I would like to note here that the manufacturer denies stating that any problem is due to installation.  Again, if the customer would like me to look at the door and see if there are any adjustments I can make, I would be more than happy to.  The customer can reach me at my office or via my email.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: As I have previously experienced the contractor will not return phone calls.  I called the contractor well before March 2014 but he does not return phone calls unless I call him two or three times.  I always left a message therefore the contractor chooses not to answer unless I repeatedly call.  When he does answer the normal response is that somehow it is my fault as opening and closing a door is apparently a complicated process.   Contractor states "I insisted" on using my doorknob and lock but he fails to mention that he did not provide a doorknob or lock with the door therefore I had no choice but to buy one.  Also, the contractor states he came out to adjust the faulty lock, but that was on an entirely different door, a glass slider that he installed which developed problems.  Please note the faulty lock on the slider actually came with the door I purchased from him.  How can the contractor make the statement that the manufacturer denies there is a problem with the installation when he has no idea of who I spoke to or what they said.  IT was a mistake to buy from a small contractor with high profit margins, one I will not make again.Regards,[redacted]
