Billing Problems
The billing department for Baylor Scott White appears to have mishandled some office visits and tests done in January and February 2020 so I have requested Humana to reprocess them. For the new office outpatient visit Lvl 5, insurance paid zero and the patient after discounts paid $174.78 and for the EKG that day patient was charged $109.30 after discounts. On 1/8/2020 for a clinic charge of $188.88, patient was billed $27.50. For the Lab done on 1/23/2020, insurance only paid $13.12 out of the bill, and the patient was billed $21.33. On 2/6/2020 Program evaluation for implant device, insurance paid zero and the patient was billed $58.47. We are also having difficulties getting his emergency room outpatient visit on 7/1/2020 processed properly. They seem to be confused whether to bill Medicare as primary payer or the Medicare Advantage Insurance Company, but MA is supposed to take care of Medicare Parts A and B. That is one of the reasons that he is changing to Aetna MA PPO in September, 2020 and will no longer get service from Baylor, Scott, and White.
