I have similar bad experience with Backyard Services in Cincinnati, ordered placed through Home Depot. Unreliable, lots of delays, dirty work with material left everywhere. I would not use Backyard Sevices, way below the minimum standard.

This company was contracted through Home Depot to install my fence. They took things upon themselves without contacting me to cut my neighbors down spot and gutter and attached my fence to my neighbors garage. When my neighbor noticed he brought this to the contractors attention and the contractor was very rude almost got into an altercation with my neighbor. The contractor told him that he needs to consult with me and it’s my responsibility to fix it. The police and the code enforcement was called and the contractor jumped into his vehicle and left! He left all the materials and debris all over my yard and the street for us to clean up. The contractor also took it upon himself to place my fence back 1 foot into the street when I specifically told him that was against the code and this was a violation. I had to speak with the owner Mike B in which he was not very helpful and was rude. He did admit that his workers made a mistake and said they would move the fence. However while doing so they began to dig out the post and found my electrical line under ground. The worker pulled my under ground electrical wire up around the fence and cut my electrical line from my garage to my home. I had no power to my garage my vehicle was locked in the garage for days along with my deep freezer. I had no electric and my freezer full of food was melting and I lost over $200 worth if food. I also had to pay $355 to have an emergency electrician come to my home to get my garage open and give me temporary power. I spoke with the owner Mike B about this situation and he again was very rude and had an altercation with my husband about this situation. He told us to get two estimates for the work and he would pay to fix our electrical line and also reimburse me for the expenses I incurred along with the food I lost and for all suffering we had to deal with. However, I got him the estimates and he told me I would have a check in 1 week. A month went by of back and forth between him myself my husband and the insurance company with Home Depot and he still hadn’t sent a check. I had to threaten to involve my attorney before he finally sent the check. When I received the check to my surprise it was only for the amount of the estimate. Ge didn’t refund me for my incurred expenses the food I lost or my suffering as he promised. After further investigation I have learned this company is known for making large mistakes not being willing to correct them being very argumentative with customers and having terrible customer service. I an very unhappy and I feel this is totally unacceptable!

Summary: Greater than 3 weeks into the installation with about 40% of the project completed. Poor customer service--was told that the project would take 1-2 days.
My personal account: I warn future customers that purchase fencing and installation through Home Depot in Pennsylvania. Home Depot contracts a company called Backyard Services which has been a very difficult company to work with. The company has been dishonest in regards to scheduling and completion timeline throughout the process. Three weeks into my relatively small project of installing approximately 100 feet of fence and I have 40 feet of fence installed and pile of lumber sitting in my yard killing my grass. The installation team consist of one person, a nice and skilled worker named Eddie. He has come to the house on two occasions for about 3 hour intervals (11 am- 2pm). He has called to cancel on numerous occasion over the past three weeks, but other times he just doesn't show up. Only on one occasion was his cancellation in regards to inclement weather. I've been in contact with the sales representative at Home Depot, Jim Y who has been kind, but has done very little to hold Backyard Services accountable. While Home Depot offers competitive prices and convenient financing, it's just not worth the hassle. I would go with a trusted local company in the future. Thank you.
