Purchased a lemon, and seem to get a runaround regarding repairs. Had for repairs over three weeks, same problems. Pressured into a warranty.Purchased a Subaru Forester, was very helpful with funding through[redacted]. [redacted] was very friendly. But, car has not been right. Repairs were supposed to be done after extended stay & issues not resolved. Phone calls not returned or dismissed ([redacted] is amazing, not her fault). Attempted to get help [redacted] mechanic (who was not very polite) did not put dipstick back in and caused car fire! Put on hold and never spoken to! Have not had three more weeks to go carless! Losing work due to car. Other people have had similar problems. Pressured into a warranty that is essentially useless and was very expensive.Desired SettlementAt this point I believe that, as much as I love the idea of this car, another would be a better option. Business Response Ms. [redacted] purchased a 2004 [redacted] on [redacted] Early [redacted] she brought it in stating the vehicle had low power. It was diagnosed with a bad turbo. Turbo was replaced but before returning the car to Ms. [redacted] it was discovered that the turbo replaced was defective. A new turbo was ordered and replaced. The majority of the time the vehicle was in the shop was due to waiting for parts to ship. The repairs were done at no charge to Ms. [redacted] and we gave her a car to drive while her car was in the shop. The car we gave her to use was one that was on our front line to sell. I am sending you pictures to show you how the car was returned to us. The leather was ripped and the seats were stained with urine. The pictures are marked [redacted]Ms. [redacted] picked up her car after the turbo was replaced and roughly a week later, called and stated the car wasn't running right. She was told mid [redacted] to bring it right in so we could diagnose and do repairs if necessary.Ms. [redacted] continued driving the car for 13 weeks and approximately 6000 miles and finally came in on [redacted] On [redacted] we told her we could not loan her a car again because of the way the [redacted] was returned. Ms. [redacted] stated that she wasn't aware of the damage to the [redacted] Our tech checked her [redacted] for her and it was almost 2 quarts over full of oil which causes the engine to run hot. Our tech drained the oil so that it was at the correct level. There was no car fire. We are attaching pictures that should show that clearly. The pictures are the ones marked [redacted] There are also pictures of the condition of Ms. [redacted]'s vehicle.Ms. [redacted] was told on [redacted] that we were booked but any repair shop would honor her extended warranty. She then brought her car back to us on [redacted] 2015.Ms. [redacted] has taken zero responsibility in caring for her vehicle. She has incurred no expense for repairs to her [redacted] Her [redacted] has been repaired once.We can only help people that help themselves. We are a family owned business and have been in the same location for forty years and have an excellent reputation in our community and the tri state area.Thank you,[redacted] M. [redacted], TreasurerConsumer Response The car was "repaired". Now does not run AT ALL. Another mechanic looked at car & states that it is the ORIGINAL PROBLEM never actually fixed.

Repaired things we did not get estimate for. we did not have any previous knowledge until repairs were completed. had to pay estimate of $342 for wheel barring and plugs and wires. Then it changed to needing power steering pump and 2 tires, which eventually changed to 4 tires. Price went to estimated $750. 3 days passed and I called to see progress and they said they had to replace battery and headlight due to battery kept dying(it was fine when we brought it in)and headlight cracked and it wouldn't pass inspection. We never asked them to inspect it. We never heard anything about them replacing battery or light until after it was repaired. Also, they knew we were struggling to come up with $350 and they keep adding different things. Now they want us to pay for repairs we knew nothing about. The bill now is about $1180 when the original estimate was $342. Now I do not have a car as we do not have that kind of money and they will not take off the charge for the light and battery. Told us they will put he old battery back in but what good is that if they ruined it already. They are nothing but scam artists looking to make a quick buck.Desired SettlementThey did repairs we were unaware of so we shouldn't pay for them. They messed up trying to scam customers and they should pay for it. After all of this stress and arguing with them I don't feel we should have to pay anything. Business Response Regarding the complaint: The first notice received from Revdex.com was on 11/6/2014. The [redacted] have not contacted anyone in our organization about complaints since the work was done.Mr. [redacted] called our shop and said that the vehicle would be dropped off by [redacted] for work because it would barely run. He did end up driving it in himself.Regarding estimates: They received estimates for the wheel bearing, valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires. Her warranty company paid for the wheel bearing, valve cover gaskets and labor. They received an estimate for the Power steering pump and her warranty company paid that bill as well.Regarding the tires: Her car had a donut tire that had been on for so long it was bald, 2 of the other tires had metal cords hanging out of them. Mr. [redacted] called our [redacted] and told him to go ahead and put the tires on so the car could be inspected and driven. The inspection sticker on the car was expired. He also told our inspection tech to go ahead with tires.Regarding the parking light: (It was not a headlight). The parking light was broken and hanging out of the car. Mr. [redacted] told us to replace the light at the same time he told us to replace the tires.Regarding the battery: The car had to be jump started from the time they brought it in. Mr. [redacted] was called about the battery and told us to put it in.Regarding not knowing about the work: The [redacted] were informed of every repair and part that was needed and gave approval before we went ahead with the work.Regarding not removing battery charge: Mrs. [redacted] called and asked how much the bill would be without the battery. At her request we removed the battery and the charge and, a battery that was purchased by Mr. [redacted] was put in, by Mr. [redacted], at our shop. The right front bumper cover was also detached and we reattached it at no charge to them.Regarding being scam artists: We are a family owned business. We have been in business at the same location for 40 years. This is the first complaint we have received. 80% of our business occurs because of word of mouth. We do not put inspection stickers on vehicles that do not legally pass [redacted] bald tires and broken lights. We have served multiple generations of customers because we always treat them with integrity and respect and stand by our work.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)We first received estimates as we waited to hear if warranty company would cover costs. At that point, [redacted]'s knew we were extremely tight on money. In response to the tires, Mr. [redacted] had numerous conversations with them arguing about the fact that everytime we spoke with them, there were more issues and expenses. Mr. [redacted] did not tell them to do the tires until the last conversation, so that a lie. They told us that they already put a rejection sticker on the vehicle due to broken parking light and bad tires. Not once did we tell them to inspect our vehicle while it was in their possession, as we were going to take it to a specific garage for that. They also neglected to tell us they were going to inspect our vehicle until after they already did and after they put a rejection sticker on it. Also, we did not know they were replacing tires until after they ordered them for delivery. We get our tires from a dealer in Pittsfield,Ma and could have gotten tires for $260.00 installed instead of $308.00 that [redacted]'s charged us. As far as the parking light, Mr. [redacted] never told them to replace any light. Again, they did not tell him about it until they went over costs for the third of forth time and already replaced it and charged us. Mr. [redacted] never spoke with them about replacing the battery, therefore he could not consent to them replacing it. Again, they told us after they purchased and replaced it. The day I got the car back we told them to take out the battery and deduct that charge as we bought a battery for just over $100.00. We were not going to pay well over $200.00 for a battery from them. They also never removed the battery disposal fee off of our bill, even though we kept our old battery and bought our own new battery. Front bumper cover they "generously" did not charge us for was not "detached". It was still attached to the vehicle, it was just hanging some. They did a very minimal repair, maybe even super glued it JB welded it, which I could have done for $5.00.[redacted]'s failed to ask us about parts and tires before they decided to take it upon themselves to do it. We could have gotten most of the parts for half the price. The plugs and wires we were charged $344.00, we could have bought ourselves at [redacted] Auto parts for under $50.00. That can be verified if you ask for part number [redacted] and part number BEL-XXXXXX. We paid $1000.00 for repairs but they say my warranty company covered most of it, including labor charges. If they replaced Wheel Barring, valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires, power steering pump, 4 tires, parking light and inspected it, why did I have a $1000.00 bill if warrenty covered wheel barring, valve cover gasket, and power steering pump like they claim? Also, they charged us for a replacement of a idler pulley for the battery which cost $48.70. We did not hear until after the fact that they replaced it, or that the car needed it. We got charged $58.46 for a park lamp assemble that we did not ask them to replace. I could have done that myself. But until we paid for all of the repairs and allow inspection they were not going to let it leave the yard, for violation of inspection law. When we brought the car in, inspection did not run out yet. But every time we spoke with them, they had new repairs and costs that kept adding up, even though they claim my warranty covered most of it. I have pictures of the bumper cover repair job they did. Also, I have the receipt of all of the work they charged us for that warranty did not cover. Excluding what warranty covered,, we had a out of pocket expense from [redacted] of $1000.17. When they put the tires on, they also charged $80.00 extra to mount and balance them. Most places who buy the tires include that fee with the price of the tires. If we bought most of the parts we would have spent around $439.99. They know what they did was wrong and it is a disgrace that they lie and cheat to gain business. I will make sure everyone knows what they have done. I just hope nobody else gets burned the way we did.Final Business Response Dear [redacted],As stated in the previous correspondence regarding case #XXXXXX, the [redacted] were informed of repairs and parts needed to get their car running and on the road. The estimate included the spark plugs and wires, which were not covered by the warranty company. We did the repairs that were necessary to get the car running and on the road with the [redacted] approval. The parking light and tires were ordered after Mr. [redacted] told our ** and our inspection tech to do so.There was no charge for battery disposal. The idler pulley was for the steering pump. The $100.00 deductible for warranty work was included on the spark plug invoice. The charge to mount and balance tires is standard. We don't inflate the cost of the tires to cover the charge. We don't include it in the hourly labor rate as it is not a per hour charge, it is a per tire charge. The warranty company covered the wheel bearing, valve cover gaskets, power steering pump and labor. The balance of parts, repair and deductible necessary to make the car run and in safe condition for the road is the [redacted] responsibility.Thank you,[redacted] M. [redacted], [redacted]Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Everything they are stating is a lie and if needed, my husband is more than willing to write a signed document stating that he never told them to do any work. Again, we didn't find out about these repairs until they were done so how could he have given a okay? I don't know what more I can say about this, I am beginning to feel as if we are going in circles. They lied from the beginning of this whole escapade.Final Business ResponseDear [redacted],We did repairs necessary to get the [redacted]'s vehicle running and on the road. What took place regarding communication between Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] is not known to us. We did what Mr. [redacted] asked and we did what Mrs. [redacted] asked. The tires and the parking lamp assembly were ordered and installed AFTER approval from Mr. [redacted]. Mounting and balancing tires is standard when putting tires on a vehicle. The warranty company paid 835.46 of the 935.46 charge. The deductible of 100.00 was charged to the [redacted]. The wheel bearing replaced was the left front. As stated in correspondence dated Dec 4, 2014 there was NO charge for disposal of a battery. The disposal charge was for 4 tires at $4.00 per tire for a total of $16.00.We have been serving businesses, police departments, fire departments, and schools in the surrounding towns for 40 years and base our business on integrity and respect for our customers. I think we have covered all of the [redacted] concerns now. I will mail the invoice for the warranty work and a copy of this letter to you.Thank you,[redacted], [redacted]
