SCAMMERS! This company has been reported. They sold me a part for $7300 and never sent it! It has been 2 months and they stopped responding.
Dealership sold me a 1996 Ford Ranger vehicle that had not had the necessary dealer maintenance completed on it prior to sale. Dealer said he had gone over vehicle in his maintenance shop and I didn't need to take it to my mechanic. Odometer and trip meter not working. Took it back in to be fixed. They not only didn't fix these two items they screwed up the speedometer. I had to get a whole different instrument cluster. CARFAX stated there were odometer fraud reports against this vehicle. Dealer knew the odometer was not working but did not tell me, I found out when drove off car lot. Odometer report says the last time odometer was verified was in 2012. While the vehicle was in possession of this dealer he had it listed two different times with two different odometer readings (I have the report that states this fact). Dealer stated he had flushed cooling system and replaced coolant. Withing a month of purchase radiator started leaking. Took to a shop. Radiator rusted out and full of rusty coolant (I have photos to show this). I had to have the radiator replaced. Windshield wipers had not rubber on them. Driver side door would not lock or unlock. I wrote the dealership a letter (signed receipt) and they did not respond. I have also filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs and the Federal Trade Commission. Not knowing how many miles this vehicle has on it and going by the 2012 reading and figuring the average of 12000 miles per year, this vehicle probably had about 180000 miles on it. A similar vehicle with that many miles on it sells for about $3000.00. I paid $5000.00 cash believing the vehicle has the mileage shown on the non working odometer. This dealer over priced this vehicle and as a minimun, I feel they should refund me $2000.00 of the purchase price.
Dear ***:
In response to a letter received regarding complaint with an assigned ID # 14***56.
It is our goal here at AYS Auto Group to serve our customers well and with respect.
The Dealership sold the above mention Vehicle to Mr. *** and Mrs. L. *** on February 13, 2020. in regards to the complain that the vehicle had not had the necessary maintenance, I can tell you that by law we have to do a safety inspection on all our vehicles to make sure all the safety components are in working condition, we do oil change, check all the fluids and some times we go beyond to change components when a vehicle needs it. After all of that is taking care of the vehicle is clean and detailed and the smoke inspection is done in all the vehicles as well.
When Mr. and Mrs *** came into the dealership, Mr. inspected the vehicle I shared with him all that we do for our vehicles, I even took the truck into the shop and put it on the lift so that Mr. could inspect it underneath and he was satisfied with what he saw and with the condition of the vehicle.
The day after sale, he called me and said that he thought that something was wrong with the transmission, I said bring it back and let me inspect it. When he came to the dealership, I noticed that he had stopped the truck, but the rear wheels were still spinning, and smoke was coming out because he was burning rubber. I walked to the vehicle and asked him what was wrong, his wife was in a separate car. Then he said you know I just realize that I am pressing the stop and gas pedal at the same time. I said to him to be careful with that because doing that will cause problems to the vehicle, he could damage the transmission or even damage the engine. He turned to his wife and told her I think there is nothing wrong with the car and they left.
The next day Mr. text me and complained that the odometer was not working, we set an appointment for us to check the truck unfortunately the repair took a little longer than we expected, and when I told him that he got upset. I was out of the dealership that day so, he texted me the next day and say that ( he had spent all they at the shop and that the odometer was still not working he said your mechanic doesn't know what he is doing. I am going to buy a used gauge cluster and replace it myself.) I didn't hear from him after that until about two weeks ago when I received a letter with his complaint. The Carfax report did show a discrepancy on the odometer and it also showed a correction on the report stating that it was a typo on the input. Mr. was able to see the report at the time and before finalizing the purchase of the vehicle.
Mr. bought a vehicle from us on an agreed price, he was not in any way force into buying this vehicle. We have posted signs all over inside our building which state that the prospective purchaser of a vehicle may at his own expense and with the dealer approval have the vehicle inspected by an independent third party either on or off the premises. Mr. and Mrs. were given copies of all the paperwork they agreed on including the buyer's guide, I promised to get them a camper lifter for the truck and I delivered on it. It was done as we had agreed.
As much as we at the dealership want to please our customers and keep them happy in this situation it was the customer choice to take the car somewhere else and start doing work on it himself.
His request for reimbursement is unacceptable.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
***
