Review: On 6/3/13, I went in to pick up a prescription at Avella of Arrowhead and they charged me $116.39. The young girl told me that the discounts change and are never the same. I had never heard of this and questioned it.Previously, on 5/1/13, I had the same exact prescription and the total was $58.82. I was using an AARP discount card and the young girl said she would call AARP to find out why the rate had doubled. I waited and she called, giving them the basic info and she was on hold for a long time. She then appeared to be disconnected and I heard her call again and give them the info again without waiting and then say, "that's what I thought, your discounts fluctuate." She then told me that the discounts fluctuated. I paid the double price but then called Avella because it seemed that the girl got disconnected and instead of waiting again, just dialed to make me think she was talking to someone and repeating what she had told me, to get me out of the pharmacy. I called AARP and was told that the discounts do not fluctuate. If I got the prescription for $58.82 the first time, I should've gotten it for subsequent times. I was told that my total should have been the same. I am not happy about this. The employee at Avella made it appear she had spoke to someone to get me out of the location so she wouldn't have to be on hold. This is not the first issue that I had at Avella. I am not happy with this type of customer service and demand that the difference be placed on my account. In addition, when I called Avella and left a couple of messages, nobody returned my calls. I cannot afford to make extra money payments for my prescriptions and don't appreciate this lack of customer service.Desired Settlement: $57.57 either refunded or placed on my account. If my next refill is not going to be $58.82 as the first co-pay was, then I will be switching pharmacies and will want the refund sent to me.
