February 4, 2016Dear ***, or Whoever it May Concern,Thank you for reaching out to our business, in an attempt to resolve this complaintThe reason that it has taken so long is because you had the wrong mailing address, and that P.OBox recipient has been out of state for months.Mr*** contracted with us on April 20, to install a new roof, and we commenced work within the next daysThe work was performed, and application and materials exceeded Rhode Island code standardsA new skylight was installed, plus a "Solartube" from the 1990's was carefully lifted, sealed, and re-flashed correctly(Solartubes allow light to be brought into the home by sections of reflective piping, that just 'slide' together.)During the following months, even after some very heavy spring rains, there were no issues, and certainly no leaks.In mid-August, we received the first call from Mr***He had gone up into the attic and noticed a bit of "light" coming outFollowing the aluminum sections down, one had just slightly slipped away from another I immediately sent my well-experienced roofing foremen out to inspect itHe explained to Mr*** that he carefully slid the unit up during the process to flash it, and even checked inside afterwards, and that everything was fine.But this is not what Mr*** wanted to hear, even after many more conversationsI repeatedly explained that I would be happy to help him fix the inside sleeve, even though we didn't disturb it But Mr*** insisted on wanting a brand new unit, even pleading with me to "call your insurance companyThey'll pay for it."After serving over customers, with an impeccable reputation for integrity and honesty, we then encouraged that the RI State Contractors Board be brought inTwo inspectors- with a combined year experience in building/remodeling- came inAfter thorough examination of the entire project, their report: "Atlantic Exteriors installed this entire roof system to code, and did not break the Solartube unit." You may verify this information yourself by calling the RI Contractors Board and asking for '*** ***', Chief Hearing Officer; or '*** ***', Field Inspector.Lastly, as an honest and charitable businessman, I once again explained to Mr*** that I would gladly help Mr*** fix the attic section and anything else, if he needed it, but that I would never do something unethical.Please feel free to call us at any time for more information at the number listed above.
