While out of state the gun purchased from them was stolen. They refused to provide me the serial number to provide the police. Man manager was rude.
On July 11th. I spoke with a lady in regards to me being out of state and that the firearm I purchased was stolen. I informed her that I needed the serial number to add to the police report. She took my contact info and informed me that I'd get a call when they locate it.
On July 12th, I called to get the serial number and was told by a man that I'd have to come into the location to verify my identity in order to retrieve the serial number. The man was very rude and impolite in hearing my concerns and helping me resolve the issue. He stated that as far as he is concerned I could be someone who stole my ID. He didn't attempt to verify any information. There are no signs at the location to warrant his behavior and actions. I need that serial number to provide the police. I feel that by not being able to get it will obstruct justice. Iif anything happens with the gun I will be liable because I cannot fully report it due to the lack of the serial number.
I want the serial number to the firearm I purchased. I will not be back in Georgia for another week to physically show up to the location. I am afraid that without it I cannot complete the report for the Chicago police.
I apologize if anyone was rude to you as we pride ourselves on customer service . I would love to know with whom you spoke with and more details on their behavior. In regards to getting a receipt and information on your purchase, you must come into the store with a valid drivers license, passport, or government ID. We would never release personal information to someone over a phone call as I'm sure you can understand in order to protect our customer's privacy. When you return from town please stop by the store you purchased the gun from, and we will be happy to give you a receipt and a copy of the 4473 you filled out with all of your personal information. If you are wanting file a policy report while out of town you could have the police contact us about your case to obtain the serial number directly. That would be the only way to verify your identity while out of town. I don't know any other FFL dealer that would release such information without verifying the person's identity.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They never mentioned to me that the police can contact them directly to obtain the information. If so, My issues could have been resolved the same day. These things in the response should be printed and in public view for the customers. I have since then resolved my own issue by having someone go to my home in Atlanta to screenshot my original receipt. In reference to the man I spoke with I did not get his name. He did however state that he was a manager. I hope that you guys will not hold anything against me next time I come into the establishment for business.
I got the information thru another method. Without the business help.
