Athens Ridge is trying to charge me for damages we did not do. I tried to call them once we moved out, and they said I'd receive something if charged
I never got any mail or an email from them saying we owed. I just got a call from debt collectors, a year later, to find out something was owed. I am more than happy to pay the electricity and water bill but when we moved in the lower window was already damaged. It is noted in our move in inspection sheets (which we never got back), and we placed many maintenance request to get it fixed and it never was.
I would like them to take those charges off and to make sure this is no affect to my credit, because if I had known about this in a timely manner I would've taken care of this.
The resident was sent a final move out statement shortly after move out showing total amount due. After no response or payment, the account was sent to collections. The former resident recently reached out to dispute charges. After reviewing account some charges were reversed due to being charged in error. Remaining balance due is still with collections company.
Apartment rental began with property being handed over to renters in horrific condition.
On the day of the beginning of the rental contract when I arrived to pick up keys to the rental there were numerous problems. First, the apartment assigned to me was also assigned to another group of people. Incorrect room assignments were being given out. Upon entering the apartment that the rental company turned over, there were holes in bathroom sinks, black mold, blood on door handles, fecal matter on the toilet seats, leaks in ceilings and walls, stains all over the furniture that was rented with the unit. I attempted to head down to the management office, but there was a line of over 150 people deep; everyone in the complex was having the same issues. I have contacted local news stations to cover this story, but I would like the Revdex.com to be aware as well. I am looking to recover at least 4 months of rent for the disgusting state the property was in and what costs I have incurred in purchasing cleaning supplies and hiring professionals from a haz mat cleaning company to make the space livable. I am also looking for food reimbursements as I will not be able to cook or eat in this environment for days until the unit has been sanitized and all mold has been evacuated. I have photos I can share.
4 months rent fees plus food reimbursement during displacement
The complex completely disregarded the lease and did not uphold many of the features it promised in the lease which residents were paying for.
I lived in Athens Ridge from August 1 2018-July 15 2019. I signed a lease in which the property promised a gated community, a furnished unit, and resident safety. Not one of these contractually stated and signed agreements were actually given to me. During the entirety of my lease the gate was never closed. The complex said it was broken and instead of using the community fee that all the residents paid when we moved in to fix community problems, they left the gate open and didn't care that they were breaking the lease. To make matters worse, they never even ordered enough key fobs for all of its residents to get into the complex even if they did close it. We also use these fobs to get into the pool, so my 4 roommates and I had to share one fob to get into the pool. Not that this mattered because the gate to get into the complex was wide open and people who did not live in the complex, including families with small children, drove right in and hopped the fence into the pool. The worst case was when a group of boys who did not live in the complex drove in to go to the pool and ended up shooting guns at each other leaving bullet shells all around the pool. After this, the complex still did not close the gate or enact any more safety than before. Also regarding the pool, the hot tub was turned off for a significant portion of my lease so I was not able to use that either, even though I was paying for it. Furthermore, I signed a lease for a furnished apartment but never received all of the furniture promised to me. I was not an anomaly, most people I knew in the complex never received multiple items of furniture either. Even after asking the management countless times, our requests for furniture were ignored. The management did not try to fix any of these problems and expected residents to be okay with it.
I would like my community fee and security deposit back. I was not given most of what the lease stated I would get while I lived in the complex. I paid a "community fee" while the "community" was actually open to anyone at all who decided to come in, and they did not have to pay it.
charged for damages I did not cause
The apartment complex office tried to charge me for "mattress cleaning for stained mattress." I had taken pictures before I left of my entire room after I had cleaned everything out, including the bare mattress. The mattress had no stains on it whatsoever, so I was shocked that I was being charged to clean it. I sent them an email and included the pictures I had taken, and after they supposedly went over the "inspection paperwork," they took that charge off my final bill. Although I am happy I do not have to pay the unnecessary fee, I believe that if I had not taken pictures of the mattress, the business would have insisted on charging me $180.00 for a mattress I didn't damage. The way they handled this situation suggested to me that they knew the mattress was not stained and had tried to charge me $180.00 just to see if they could get money from me, which is absolutely despicable. This incident is the latest in a long line of previous issues I've had with the management of this business and the unnecessary charges they make residents pay.
I want no resolution since they did take the charge out of me final bill, but I want others to be aware of this and to know to take pictures of their apartment before the move in and right after they move everything out to prevent charges like this from being forced on them.
I am filing a complaint against Athens Ridge because they have failed to refund me my security deposit. I moved out of Athens Ridge in June of 2017. They agreed that I would be refunded my deposit in August and I am still waiting on that refund. I have called NUMEROUS times and have been given the 'run around'. First they tried to put me off by saying their accountant who handles the money wasnt there and that they would call me back. I never received a call back. This happened several more times. Finally in January I did speak with their manager, ***, she tried to make up excuses for why I haven't sent it. And then tried to ask why am I just now asking for my security deposit months later? When I told her I have been calling for months her attitude completely changed. She then became defensive and said she would have to sort this out and would call me back the following day at noon. I never received a phone call. I have tried calling this week to follow up with her, and every time I have called one of her female employees has answered. The first time she answered she took my name and number and told me that she would give it to ***. The next time I called she sounded surprised because *** still had not called me and she said she would take another note to her that I had called. Still I have heard from management nor received a payment from Athens Ridge.
Refund I would like a full refund of my security deposit AS PROMISED of $274.50
