This letter is being sent in response to your letter of February 5,
According to our records, both policies were applied for and issued November 25, The initial premium payment made at the time of application advanced the padates for both policies to December 25,
On December 17, 2014, Mr*** called our customer service call center to cancel both policiesIn response, our call center representative stopped the automatic premium draft processHowever, the representative was unable to formally cancel the policies because we require all cancellation requests to be put in writing
In situations where the bank draft process is stopped in the absence of a written cancellation request, our call center representatives are trained to inform the customer that in the absence of a written request, a Premium Notice will be generated and mailedThey also inform the customer that they may simply ignore the notice if they do not wish to renew the coverage
While the draft process was stopped in December 2014, on January 23, 2015, we received signed cancellation requests from Mrand Mrs***They had each written "cancelled" on their respective Premium NoticesIn response to their formal requests, we immediately cancelled each policy and processed refunds of the one monthly premium payment made towards each policyOn January 27, 2015, we provided a written response to Mr*** to let him know that we honored their cancellation requestsRefund checks were mailed to each customer on January 31,
In our letter to him, we also addressed his concerns regarding the Premium Notices he was receivingAs mentioned in his letter to your office, he was concerned that the unpaid notices would impact his credit ratingWe do not send unpaid premium notices to a collection agencyInstead, if a renewal premium is not received before the expiration of a policy's grace period, the policy will simply lapse due to non-payment of premium
In summary, in the absence of a signed cancellation request, premium notices were generated and mailedThen, when we received a signed request, we cancelled the policies and mailed refunds
