We would like to respond to the complaint submitted on 11/16/by *** *** (ID # ***)Enclosed please find "A" the original ticket purchased in the amount of $3907.61, "B" a credit in the amount of $for the original sofa purchased, "C" the ticket for the sofa that was re-selected
by the customer in the amount of $The original handwritten ticket ("C") showed a credit pending balance in the amount of $1298.95, however the credit was only for $leaving an outstanding balance in the amount of $shown on "D"Therefore we sent the customer a letter as shown on "E"Mr*** responded and explained that his salesperson *** told him that the switch would be an even trade***, the salesperson said that was not part of the conversation he had with Mr***Carter's salespeople are not allowed to negotiate pricing on behalf of customers without management approvalNo management approval was sought in this situationFurthermore, the paperwork and written copies indicate the true details of this transactionWritten paperwork and tickets must be the standard for all transactionsIt is unfortunate, in that it appears Mr*** has interpreted the ticket "C" noting a credit pending of $as his authority to claim the balance was satisfied, when in fact the credit for the returned sofa per the original sales price which when processed after the return of the sofa left the $balanceCarter's has resolved this matter by writing off this balance as "uncollectable debt, and effort of goodwill"However, it should be noted that it is our belief that the customer clearly understood the amount of the credit for his returned sofa would be applied toward the balance of the new sofaThis resulted in his new unpaid balanceWe will gladly accept payment from Mr*** to reimburse Carter's at a future dateHowever, once again, we have written off this balance as an "uncollectable debt, and effort of goodwill"We consider this matter concludedWe would like to thank the Revdex.com for their efforts on our behalf
