Anytime Fitness

I canceled my membership after a couple of years in December of 2019. I was informed via email that my membership was canceled and my last day of access would be 12/31/2019.
In January, the bank draft for my supposedly canceled membership occurred again. I sent an email in reference to the issue and received no response for over 24 hours. I called the following day and was told that my membership had been canceled and that I would be receiving a refund for my January charge in “two or three days”. I waited a week because of the federal holiday on January 20th, causing the banks to be closed. When the refund still did not arrive, I sent another inquiring email, to which no one bothered to respond until I sent a second email three days later simply asking, “Can I get a response, please?”
I got a response stating “The request for $32.69 is in action. Should be in the next day or two.”
It is now over a month later, still no refund and the email I sent that day requesting proof of the refund request on Anytime’s behalf has never received a response. I have also received another charge on my bank account for another month of membership, so now my membership has obviously not been canceled and two months are due to be refunded.
I have never had such a problem getting a response nor a refund from a company as I have this one. I have been pleasant in dealing with them and have tried to do as much by email as possible as to have details in writing, though I’ve provided my phone number, so if they don’t want to email me, someone could call. I’m receiving no responses at all and when I call from my own number, no one will answer my call. When I call from a different number, someone always answers; the employees there are clearly avoiding me.
I’ve canceled memberships in the past with other local facilities in the Oklahoma City area. I never had such problems with communication or follow through as I have with Anytime of Newcastle. I’m very disappointed in the handling of a simple cancellation request.
