AmeriVu and Suites of Stanley

I was not allowed a full refund due to unforeseen global health emergency issues. When I made my reservation in December 2019, there was no way to expect the event I was attending would be canceled. I contacted the hotel and Expedia.com customer service and each one said I needed to contact the other for my refund. I was denied my full refund, or any refund, even though no services were exchanged.

I called and blocked off six rooms for my wedding. Two friends called for rooms but were told there were none left. The manager called me five days before the wedding and asked if I still needed the six rooms, and to let her know 24 hours before the day of the wedding if I wanted to cancel because that was their policy. I called a day and a half before the wedding and was told she couldn't cancel the reservation because they had a seven day cancellation policy. I was still charged for two empty rooms ($225), even though there were six couples who stayed for a total of NINE nights. I asked for a refund but was told no. I called and went to the hotel several times to speak with the manager, but was always told he was not available, but that they would take my number, and pass the message on to him, I never received any communication, (three phone calls, and one in-person visit). I told them I would be filing a small claims court complaint-but still have not heard from the manager. While at the hotel, one friends' phone "fried" while it was charging in the wall. The peephole was broken, so people in the hall could look into the room. The receptionist was walking around the lobby/breakfast area in bare feet. The smoke detector was removed from the ceiling. I contacted the *** fire chief, and he said that they have been cited for previous violations.
