Review: Prior to moving into my apartment I was informed that the apartment was going to be remodeled. I didn't get to see the repairs until I moved in. The remodel was poorly done and what should have been replaced wasn't replaced. The furnace, thermostat, patio door, and bedroom window are all over 30 years old. The furnace fans had a massive build up of nicotine and dust slowing it down. The thermostat does not read the proper temperature and makes the furnace go on and off and on and off. The seals on the patio door and window are non existent allowing the elements into my apartment. This also makes it impossible to keep the cold winter out and now the hot summer. I put plastic over the door and window during the winter months but it did not help anything and I had mounds of frost on the inside. My electricity bill was sky high all winter. I contacted management and they told me "that's just how these apartment are" and recommended to get on a budget plan with the electric company. I expressed that I shouldn't have to do that and requested them to make necessary repairs. The screens also have holes and rips and bugs are now a problem. No repairs were made or attempted. Last month I began withholding half of my rent as is my right under wisconson laws and requested repairs and sent pictures. There was an attempt to look at my issues but I wasn't home. I did not receive a phone call or any sort of correspondence and have heard nothing since. This issue has dealt directly with my finances and the unprofessionalism of the management here is bewildering.Desired Settlement: I would like my patio door, window, furnace, and thermostat updated/replaced. I also feel that considering the amount I paid for electric during the winter that I shouldn't have to reimburse Windsong Court for the 2 months,and any future months I have sent only half of my rent.
