American Wood Tubs Reviews (%countItem)

He took a deposit from me in January and agreed to make a tub with 3 months. In the first week of April he finally called me back and said the tub was a few days from finishing. Since then he has not sent my tub not returned any of my phone or email corespondents.

This is the same Ron M of *** where numerous complaints were filed. We paid a 1/2 down deposit of $1599.00 on a tub January 31st. He said at a max 8 weeks. We have never gotten him on the phone since. Has only responded to emails once. I have sent numerous. He is a fraud. I want help resolving this and intend to do whatever legal action I can as well. The Revdex.com needs to identify this as a fraudulent website and he needs to be prosecuted.Revdex.com needs to identify this company and website as a fraud.

Ron must have fallen on hard times. He built my tub 2 years ago and I love it. He did everything a responsible business owner would do and I couldn’t be happier with the product and his excellent customer service. I’m sorry he fell on hard times, as he is talented and I would have recommended him to everyone.

We ordered a tub, paid half the cost of the tub—several thousand dollars—arranged for a delivery date, and were then stood up. No tub was delivered. Since this time we’ve made several attempts to communicate with the company owner, but have received no further responses. He originally presented himself as very capable, and very professional. It was only when we tried to get responses to our communications that we became concerned. After the lack of delivery and further fruitless attempts to communicate, we decided to do more research. A number of other would-be buyers have had the same experience that we have, and we’re realizing this evening that there may in fact be no tub at all.

We purchased a tub from Ron on 11/17. We never received it as of 5/18. Promised us numerous times that it would be delivered. Had the gall to tell us he stopped working on our tub so he could work on the tubs of people who still owed him money. We had paid up front. He promised me he wasn't going to rip us off.
He lied.

I ordered a tub from Driftwood tubs on September 12, 2017. Despite promises of deliveries it never gets shipped to me.

I purchased a custom bathtub on August 4,2017 and I paid for it in full as requested per business. Driftwood tubs promised a 6-8 week delivery. It has now been 5 months and I have not received my very expensive custom bathtub. Mr. Ron L contacted me twice promising shipment, once on November 17th and then again on December 21st. Mr. L has not shipped my tub and it’s been 2 weeks since the last form of communication. I designed my master bathroom in my new house around this handmade bathtub. I have emailed Mr. L 5-6 times in the past 2 weeks asking for tracking number. No response.

We ordered a tub from Driftwood Tubs in August 2017 and paid in full at that time. The promised delivery date was mid-October. It is now January 2018 and in addition to not having a tub, we are no longer receiving responses from Mr. L. The last communication from Mr. L was dated December 1, 2017 stating: "The tub is going to be done and I’ll ship it on Monday. You should have it either Friday or the following Monday." Four weeks (and six unanswered emails) later, there is still no tub and no communication.

I believe this is likely a fraud. Ron at Driftwood seems to make good tubs from the photos we all see online. So I ordered one on August 26, with a delivery date of early October. Now it is December 27, and after about 12 failed promises by Ron, I have yet to see any shipped product. Ron's responses are erratic, and sparse. Most of the time he ignores emails or voicemails. The last response I have right now was from four weeks ago when we said he would ship the product within 3 days. I had to prepay over $3,000 to get this project started, and so far I am left with nothing. This will likely end up in court. I will update this post if anything changes.

Ron is a textbook case. He promises to make a bathtub in 4-6 weeks, takes all the money up front, and then dodges your calls and emails for months. After 10 weeks Ron started telling us that he had already shipped the tub, and went so far as to send us a fraudulent tracking number. He then stopped responding to our emails, and we filed a fraud report with our credit card company.

Much like the other complaints about this business, we ordered a custom bathtub from Driftwood Tubs and Mr. Ron Leon. Our order was placed on August 6th, we were told 6-8 weeks for delivery. We have made numerous attempts to contact Mr. L about our order and he is unresponsive to both phone messages and email. We had a bathroom remodel project that was scheduled to start and has now been delayed twice due to this issue.

I would encourage all consumers to stay away from Driftwood Tubs and Mr. L. It is clear that my issue is not unique, but reflective of a pattern with this business.

American Wood Tubs Response

Mr. has been issued a refund.

We ordered a tub from Driftwood tubs on May 24th, 2017. The order was paid in full ( $USD 2,800) at time of order. Mr Ron L, proprietor, assured us the tub would ship in 5 weeks. We allowed 6 weeks, just because. On July 28, I sent an email asking for any type of communication, as we had not received our tub.
I was told via email that Mr. had had two employees quit, and he had gotten behind, but that the tub would ship that day (28 July).
On August 9, 2017, with no tub, we sent Mr L an email; his response was that he was vacationing with his Mother in North Carolina, and had no idea why we had not received the tub, as he had shipped it over a week prior. Asking for the tracking number produced exactly zero reply from Mr. L.
Numerous phone calls to the business phone and cell phone numbers listed went un-answered, and no voice mails were responded to.
Emails of August 11th, August 14th, went un-answered.
An email of August 15th was answered, explaining that the tub was being shipped via FedEx, and the shipping number would be provided in the evening or the next morning.
Additionally, Mr. L stated that he included a couple of pictures "after I fixed it".
After yet another email asking for the tracking number on August 16th, after COB in Ohio, I finally got the tracking number, meaning he had just shipped the tub.
The photos revealed a tub that resembled the tub we ordered, but with several obvious flaws and poor workmanship.
I assumed this was a not-yet-completed tub photo, and remained optimistic.
the tub arrived as promised by FedEx, and was inspected by my wife (the purchaser) and myself.
Very disappointing.
The tub had many flaws and in fact was built incorrectly.
Workmanship was quite poor, with unfinished fiberglass cloth visible in spots.
I emailed Mr. L that the tub was unacceptable and was to be returned, with the predictable zero response.
With no return material authorization form from Mr., we debated the actual return.
On Sept 11, we received a rather cryptic message from Driftwood Tubs informing us our order was due to be shipped.
Enquiries as to the meaning of this message went un-answered.
On Sept 28th, another email from us asking for an update as to the status of our order was responded to by "sales@driftwoodtubs", stating they hadn't received the returned tub.
On 6 October, 2017, I shipped the tub via *** Freight Lines, an expense of $ USD 453.00, with an expected delivery of 12 October.
Tracking as of 16 October indicates delivery is still pending.
A phone call on October 16th, at 12 noon, PST, (3PM local, Jamestown) to *** reveals that ODFL has attempted delivery 6 times, with no response from Mr. L.

American Wood Tubs Response
