All services performed in our office are the patient's financial responsibility. If the patient has insurance, we will bill services to their insurance and anything not covered by the insurance is due to patient. This was the case with your visit.

When we billed the insurance for your visit, the insurance stated patient had not met their $750 deductible and that we must bill the patient for the office visit charge. I see you already attached the EOB Statement from Aetna insurance, this is what Aetna told us to bill you. A Deductible is an out of pocket amount that an insurance company requires the patient to pay out of pocket first, before the insurance will start covering anything.

All transactions on our end were ethical and legal, we performed the service and honored the insurance billing request to bill the patient. If there is a lack of understanding on insurance coverage, we encourage patients to review their insurance plans thoroughly, to understand what benefits their insurance will cover, along with understanding deductible and out of pocket costs. It is our legal responsibility to bill and collect for all services performed in our office.
