Many thanks and a full recommendation to Tim P and his American Tree Service for their outstanding work in our yard. We had a huge, dead, dangerously weak tree along the fence line. Tim and Team quickly figured out a game-plan and got right to work carrying it out. Their well-trained crew showed up at 9:00am on the dot both days and handled it with ease and expertise, managing to take it down, piece by piece, from over a fence and between two yards! And then they broke it down and removed every last branch, even down to the sawdust! These guys made a complex, potentially dangerous job look routine. 5 stars!
I used *** at American Tree Service. *** charges $1,600/day and told me "two days, maybe a little more". After 2 days of "work" (showed up late both days), 1/3 of the trees were done. *** told me it will be at least 3 more days to finish. It went from $3,200 to at least $8,000. He didn't seem to care and told me he was fine with me going with another company to finish the work he quoted. Now I'm left with 2/3 of my trees not trimmed and out $3,200.
Tell us why here...It is certainly true I did offer a rate of $1600.00 per day for 8 hours of work.
My crew did in fact work two days for 8 hours each day as per our initial agreement.
I showed up the first day to instruct the crew regarding work to be performed at 8:30 AM as is my usual routine
The second day I did show up later but in order to check work progress and you and I agreed work was going as planned.
On larger projects we sometimes charge a daily rate because I cannot be sure of exactly how long a job will take and I have been in this industry for 17 years.
I do want to thank you for the initial opportunity and am sorry if I appeared unconcerned about your dissatisfaction. I felt at the time we talked it would be the best option for you to find someone else if you believed we were not performing to your standards.
I did charge the daily rate that we agreed upon and I am convinced my crew gave a good two days work.

I am rejecting this response because:
Mr. said to me "2 days, maybe a little more" to COMPLETE the job no less than 5 ***es when we met. I was conservative and budgeted for 3 days of work. Mr. team completed approximately one third of the job during those two days (that were not full 8 hours both days). I had Mr. back to the house to discuss a resolution to complete the job. That was when he told me it would be another 3-4 days. Now Mr., after 17 years of experience, you either find it acceptable to misquote customers by more than 100% or you employ this tactic to get additional days of work after the customer is stuck. I expressed to you that if you would have initially told me 5-6 days to complete the job, I would not have used your company. I suspect you also know this and is the exact reason you underestimated the number of days by over 100%. You were not honest from the beginning, so I am not expecting you to be now.
