I noticed water dripping into my kitchen ceiling. Determined it was from around roof vent directly above. American sent out person who supposedly repaired vent. Kept leaking...same guy came out and put tarp over vent. Filed insurance claim, as kitchen ceiling will need replacement. Roofer met adjuster here, and was urging inspection to warrant insurance replaced roof. Which is not what I was after, but went ahead and let the adjuster submit that. Apparently that will be denied, which is fine. But repair needed immediately to fix leak. My claim has already been approved for repair, and replacement of kitchen ceiling. When I contacted same guy that visited, he said they had neither the "knowledge or expertise" to "tear out the vent and find the leak". So bottom line is...I call a roofer for a repair, and they are obviously only interested in scoring new roofs paid for by insurance. I paid them $250 total for the 2 visits...leak not fixed, and man that came out 1st two times told me this morning they don't have the knowledge or expertise to fix the problem.

Desired Outcome

Desired Settlement: Refund Since the contractor expressed lack of expertise this morning, I would like a refund (I have the receipts...1 for $100, 1 for $150) I called them to repair a roof leak, and it was not repaired. They only wanted an opportunity to get an insurance covered roof replacement. I do not want them contacting me other than sending a refund.

We show no record of a repair for your home in our system. We as a company do not do repairs at all any only do new installation. Please remit the paid invoices from our company to the email below.
Also we show no communication with you about your project. It is possible you may be confusing us with . That is another local company with a similar name.

A Mr. made the visit....gave me the address of the company listed in my first message...was in the logo painted truck. I will forward the invoices, which were handwritten on a generic invoice pad. I assume if you show no record, then Mr. was working independently of the company.

signed up for monthly payment for what insurance did not cover. After insurance paid the claim, did
not get a statement of balance or coupon book. no statement or coupon book about the balance or the exact amount of monthly payment, for american roof was not sure what insurance will cover. They send unpaid balance to collection agency without giving me an opportunity to start making payment. No letter of reminder, no phone call or voice mail.

Desired Outcome

I cannot make one time payment of 2600.00. it needs to be broken down into monthly payment. collection agency involvement should be stopped.

I'm very sorry to hear that you had issues. I looked in you file and found the promissory you signed on 3/15/18 where we set up arrangements with you to finance a portion of your project. The promissory note laid out that you were to make your first payment of $201.04 on 4/1/18. We never received that first payment nor any of the proceeding payments for the last four months. Unfortunately since we are a roofing company we do not have an elaborate billing system that would make it easy for us to generate monthly invoices.
On the rare occasion that we finance a customer in house we do it interest free and just have to take our customers word that they will pay as laid out in the promissory agreement. We do however provide a payment booklet that makes it simple for you to pay. I do see that you stated that you never got that in the mail. I called the printing company and had them confirm that they did send that out and to make sure it was not returned as undeliverable. I cannot say as to why you did not receive it other than the possibility of it being lost in the mail somehow.
I also checked the notes in our system as to the phone calls for collections. *** made four documented calls to the number you provided us and on each occurrence she notated a message was left. The dates of those calls were 7/11/18, 7/7/18, 6/11/18 and 5/30/18.
I feel like there is not much more we could have done on our end to prevent the file going to collections. The dates of payments were established before we did your project. Also, even if the book somehow got lost and you didn't get any of the messages at what point would you have contacted us to make your payment?
On removing your file from collections: Unfortunately once a file is sold to a collection company it cannot be removed. If that was an option, we would be glad to give you another shot at making your payments but the debt is owed to them now. After months of attempting to collect we inevitably must write off debt that we feel will not be paid.
I'm very sorry that this has happened as we never like to have a customer that has had a bad experience. We install a touch over 40 roofs per week and very rarely have issues. I do apologize if you feel we have dropped the ball on our end somehow. It goes without saying we are still here for you and will 100% back your roofing project if any issues arise down the road.

Couldn't ask for a better experience. American Roofing really did the whole job cleanly and professionally in 1 day! The whole team is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

When we were approached by the owner ***, he prided his company on being number one on the Revdex.com in North Georgia for roofing companies. We did not get treatment from a number one company. First ,when they came out to install the roof, they ran out of roofing tiles . They were 18 bundles short.(that's a lot.) We were not told of this right away because none of the workers spoke English. Finally at 5:00 on that Saturday evening, the project manager who could communicate with us let us know. They said we would need to call our insurance and get more tiles authorized. Of course we couldn't reach any one then. I asked the man if they would tarp up or house since half of it was unfinished. He assured me they would. They didn't, left our house exposed for two days. We were told they would run a magnet around the property to clean up any nails that had fallen and clean up the mess. Nope. They let black debris all over the deck and nails started washing out of our drain spouts. We found a bunch of nails in the driveway. They were told to stay off our deck and they drug a tarp they threw supplies on across it and scraped it. They scraped our fence as well. We had to call *** and let him know and he sent workers back out to clean up and try to clean the fence. He said we should have never been told they would tarp our house, they only do that if there is an 80% or more chance of rain . The insurance was furious when they heard this, We had the lady we ordered our roof from(***) and gave the first insurance check to come back out one Saturday morning to pick up the other insurance check. We were told we would receive an invoice for our part that day. The following Wednesday when we still had not received it we called. *** the main accountant sent me an email at 4:43. As I am opening the email my phone rings. it is *** at 4:43 calling me. I sent your invoice do you want to go ahead and send me your check to clear out your account. I said I am literally opening the email let me look over it. They had not posted our last insurance check we gave *** the Saturday before. *** knew nothing about it. *** called me and said I still have the check, I don't turn my checks into the office except on Fridays. I called *** back and said *** still has our check. she said she would get it and send me the corrected invoice the next day. The following Thursday when I still did not have the corrected invoice, I emailed ***. She calls me and says why didn't you get the email. *** it not let you open the attachment. I said no, I haven't gotten anything from you. She said well I don't know why , I sent it several times. I finally got the corrected invoice and realized she had lied, because my last insurance check had not been posted until that same day. If she had sent it several times before as she claimed it still would have been wrong because she had not posted that check yet. We would not recommend this company, too many problems and lies.

We are very sorry you were not happy with your experience with ARC. We always try to do our best to please everyone. The office ladies do make mistakes sometimes though. I cannot attest to why your invoice didn't come when she sent it the first times. I can see in our CRM that they did go out though.

On the running short of materials. Since your job was an insurance job all we can do it order the amount of materials the insurance says your roof is. If we come up short we have to stop work and call them for approval of the additional materials. Unfortunately that can't be done with builds that happen on a Saturday. Though your roof wasn't tarped it was "in the dry". Meaning it was fully felted and would have not leaked if it had rained.

When we came back and fixed the fence and go back around with a magnet again for nails we thought you guys were happy.

Sorry we let you down. :(
