Oct 2018 booked 7/14--7/22/2019 cruise on the American Queen (Formerly Red Wing MN to Alton, IL). Particularly interested in this cruise because we have 4 states remaining to complete traveling through all 50 states. The four remaining states are: Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arkansas. This particular cruise would have visited Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. On 7/9/19 received call from AAA stating trip is rerouted" and we have to go on the Ohio River to have stops in Kentucky or we loose $9,643. We immediately went to our AAA office and they feel this is a unacceptable bait and switch tactic to have us go on a trip on a totally different river in a state which we have already visited several times in the past. AAA called both the company and Pleasant Holidays who they interface with to no avail. We either take the revised itinerary or we lose $9643. They gave us no options to reschedule the trip we REALLY wanted. Reading the Terms & Conditions provided to us in the ASC 2019 Voyages brochure under Cancellations ALL their words about losing money refer to the GUESTS cancelling. I had AAA call the ASC four times in the last three months to ensure our trip was still on schedule. Each time we were ensured everything was on schedule. Now six days before our trip the itinerary totally changed not only the States but also the RIVER we are to travel on. We find this unacceptable. If we don't take this trip we lose $9643.
Consumer dissatisfied with deviation itinerary provided by American Queen Steamboat Company. American Queen's first concern is the safety of their passengers and crew. Because of the historic flooding on the Mississippi River, it was necessary to change the itinerary of this voyage to guarantee the safety of our guests and crew. Under American Queen Steamboat Company's terms and conditions, all itineraries are subject to change without notice for any reason. However, American Queen, did offer to accommodate the ***'s and moved their sailing to a date in 2020. Thank you Sent on: 7/16/2019 5:48:33 PM
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. However, AAA is still negotiating the price increase the American Queen is charging for the trip being delayed to 2020.
I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Terrible company. We paid in full in June 2018 for an Upper Mississippi River Cruise for July 2019 ( yes, over a year in advance). 5 days before we were to fly to start the cruise I got an email stating due to water levels on the Mississippi our cruise was going to be on the Ohio River with 5 ports in Kentucky! I paid $9758.00 for the upper Mississippi Cruise. We canceled as I had no desire to see Kentucky( my sister lived in Paducah and I had see the state). All I got refunded are the port charges of $378.00 and the prepaid gratuities of $259.00. No credit for a future cruise! I am out $9121.00! I did not get what I paid for. Awful company as all they see are $$$ with no customer service.
I have been receiving advertising brochures regarding river cruises from American Queen Steamboat Company for several months. I did not request these brochures. I have repeatedly asked the company to remove my name and address from all mailing lists. This has not been done.
