I have moved multiple times for my career around the country and want to say that this was my smoothest move I have ever had! American Moving Group needs to be praised on their service provided from beginning to endI highly recommend this company!

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a moving company, and I would not wish this upon anyone They promised us a pick up and delivery date, and we got our stuff weeks late
They charged us $extra for moving our ping pong table, which they did not tell us until they day we were supposed to move (so we couldn't sell it) and then it was completely destroyed during the moveThey damaged/destroyed/lost over $2,worth of items The custormer service representatives are by far the rudest, most untruthful business people I have ever had experience with and never once apologized for any inconvenience The company is a "broker", meaning they get the contract with you and say they are going to have "their guys move everything for you, hassle free." and then they pawn off the job to other companies, so they are "not responsible for damaged items or pick-up/delivery dates." So we essentially had or companies that messed with our stuff, so everyone pointed the finger at the others when it came down to all of the damages and lost items, etc I strongly advise everyone that is moving to avoid this company no matter whatAMG is a scam and do not let them tell you otherwise I could go on and on about specifics and other details, but put simply, DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR MOVE

Just moved to West Plam Beach, Fla from Newport Beach, CaWant to thank American Moving Group for making it a good experienceAll went smooth and there were no surprise chargesI paid exactly what I was toldThe office people were very competent and responsive Thanks for a job well done

I was searching online for information/quotes for moving this spring and suddenly I was contacted by American Moving Group I was asked on the phone to provide a "general idea" of the inventory I would be moving from my home I specifically said that I hadn't even started packing and did not have any idea how many boxes along with furniture I would have I was told I could get an idea of a quote, that I would be given a number/code and I could go online at any time to add/change the inventory before the move To make a very long and disturbing story short...at the last minute I received a phone call from AMG (from a different person, because one you are finished with the one who originally quoted you, you will NEVER be able to talk to them again) and was told that they had made the contract for the original (phone) quote and not the additions and corrections I had made in the following month...even though I had an email stating the first person had received the changes and upped the price So the day before my move, I was coerced into an additional $depositThis was after an entire day back and forth on the phone and online fighting with AMG - but I was in a bind--alone, with kids and an entire house packed up to move halfway across the country Bad enough that I now was paying over $more than expected--when the "movers" showed up it went from bad to worse AMG contract to anyone they can get and once AMG has their money, they could care less what happens after that A truck showed up at my house (rented Ryder) from NJ that would not fit half of the items on be inventory list--they also said they had no idea I was moving a piano, although it was on the list and I had paid $extra for it I was rudely told that if I wanted everything to go, it would be an additional $5,000.00!!!! AMG gave me the run around while I tried to contact them The driver finally left After days of trying to contact someone at AMG that could help, (and living in a packed house) I was told another mover was coming with either a large enough truck, or smaller trucks to fit all the inventory Once again, small rented truck arrived from some company in NJ (who had called me the day before to confirm they were sending trucks) Even the driver told me that he was told a second truck was coming After starting to load my belongings, I was given the phone by the driver and told there was no second truck and if I wanted one, it would be an additional $2,000.00!!! I could not believe this was happening again!!!!! Unable to contact anyone from AMG--left many messages --and unable to contact anyone reliable from the so called moving company--I was told by my lawyer not to let them take anything because the usual scam is to take half of your inventory then hold it for more money The driver would not give me the name, phone number or name of anyone at the moving company that I could talk to WHAT A SCAM!!!!! I have never in my life been so frustrated and taken advantage of I would advise noone to EVER trust this company!!! I had to wait another week and pay for a completely different company to drop off a truck, find people to help load it, and finally move after the worst weeks of my life AMG refuses to return the deposit and both my husband and I have been trying to fight it through the credit card companies DO NOT TRUST AMERICAN MOVING GROUP!!!!!!

I can barely even begin to state what an overall disaster my experience was with The American Moving Group I hired them to move me from MS to Maine mid-late summer and after almost a week of trying to get a hold of anyone in their company after multiple service and missed pick up date promises I ended up moving myself, which is what I should have done in the first place and I even saved money in the process AMG's handling of the situation and their (total lack of) customer service was hands down the worst I have encountered in my life! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THE AMERICAN MOVING GROUP COMPANY!! *** ***, *** *** *** and *** *** *** ***, and the entire team should have trouble sleeping at night for what they do to their customers in what is already one of the most stressful events in your life Once they had my deposit and signature on the contract it was very difficult to reach anyone and impossible to reach anyone after PM or on the weekends Their contract is very one sided in their favor and yes, I did sign it in good faith but then I felt I was held hostage by that contract by trying to do the right thing and communicate with them I did end up needing more space than we had originally discussed, but that still does not justify the poor and almost nonexistent customer Service and lack of communication
You can read all the other complaints and reviews for yourself and decide but please do read them and take heed They are accurate Luckily, I used my Discover card for the deposit and after filing a dispute they settled in my favorotherwise It would have made a horrific experience even worse

I was given a quote to move from New Jersey to FloridaI gave AMG a list of the furniture to be movedBefore the movers arrived I added two lamps and removed one entertainment centerAMG gave me a price of $to move my furnitureWhen the movers came they had my wife, I wasn't home, sign a paper to agree to pay cents a pound for any weight over what AMG estimated the weight to be, before they would load anything on the truckI am not a mover and I have no idea what furniture weighs but I definitely could have gotten closer to the correct weight than AMG didMy move ended up costing me more than $I called and complained to AMGThey said my wife should not have signed that paper because now it was out of their handsThe movers who AMG contracted with was New York budget movers who loaded my furniture on a truck and said when we get back to New York we will weigh your furniture and tell you how much more you will oweWhen they told me how much it was I was furious but all they said was if you want your furniture you will pay before it is deliveredI would never recommend AMG as a moving broker or New York Budget movers as a reputable moving company Oh!! and by the way AMG portrayed themselves as a moving company not a moving broker

I moved cross country from southern California to upstate New York. American Moving Group made the process as easy and seamless as possible. My agent Adam was a pleasure to deal with. They were diligent in sending email confirmations throughout the process, so that the day of the move there was only the necessary paperwork to sign. No surprises with additional fees being tacked onto my original estimate. The contracted moving company, could not have been any more professional and understanding of my concerns. When the moving van arrived in upstate New York, everything was loaded, moved, and unloaded with efficiency and courtesy. Thanks for a positive experience!

I had an excellent moving experience using American Moving Group! My agent was [redacted], he was very informative and he walked me through the move process from start to finish. The company did a great job, at my home in New Jersey, loading everything. And when everything was delivered to Florida, I expected an item or two to be damaged, but everything was intact!! I highly recommend using this company.

I spoke with [redacted] at length a month before the move, everything seemed to be OK. The night before the scheduled move date spoke with someone else who had phoned to finalize details. Since they were going to be in possession of all of my furniture I expressed the concern of how difficult they were to contact I was told I 'wasn't doing it right'...really?? That was not helpful. He then noted that my final number of boxes was significantly less than what I had originally estimated, I noticed the price did not decrease at all but started to increase significantly. When I began to shared my concern at the discrepancies in the binding estimate he went into a condescending attitude. He advised me that I should have read my contract which is technically true but I expressed my concern that in my experience the contract and the information from the trained professional are usually similar. He advised me that [redacted] was 'just the salesman'. This additional unprofessional statement added to my increasing mistrust. I was very suspicious that by the time everything was all completed I was going to be paying huge since they seem adept at changing the agreement with me unable to do anything about it. I also decided I didn't want to pay that much money to be treated so poorly. I quickly came up with a plan B. I was fortunate enough to find a place to donate my furniture after packing all I could in my SUV. I decided since apparently I was going to be losing a lot of money I would rather it go to disadvantaged people than this shady company with their rude, unprofessional, unrefined employees. If you choose to trust this company with your worldly possessions, do you have a lot of money to burn or a last minute plan B?

The gentlemen who help me do my inventory was very nice and fair. American moving was not the cheapest quote I got but they helped me understand what I pay for. I move from Ohio to Georgia and everything went very smooth. I had several antiques that very important to me . When everything arrived in same condition I left it I was very happy.

I was told I had 24 hours to cancel, never was I told I had to send it via email. And officially, my 24 hours fell on 4th of July. I tried to cancel the following day, which was on a Saturday, but the business was closed.

As it turned out, I was suppose to have sent cancellation to an email address. And guess where you find this email address: hidden in a very long paragraph with blaring red CAPS. I mean, did they even want me to find it?

You can't trust this company.

This business is extremely untrustworthy!! They do the Bait & Switch. Offer you a great price and many services that they don't end up providing. They are brokers not the movers, so they collect their money and then say they are not responsible for anything and I mean anything that they agreed to. They pawn you off on the moving company that they contract with and then when they do do anything that they agree to which leaves you worse off then when you started, and American Moving Group telling you we are not responsible for the movers!! Thats their favorite line. They arnt responsible, then what are they getting paid for? I would definitely consider this company "SCAMMERS".

DO NOT USE THIS BROKER!! They also function under the name The Moving Group. They have hired GREAT liars to sell you their services. Before I booked they would call me regularly to check in, go over my inventory, discuss their support, etc. They were great at pretending they would help you all the way through your move and be your representative through any issues. Of course as soon as I booked I could never get in touch with them again and no one who was supposed to call ever did. I never got confirmation of my moving company, moving date, etc. I called and called and called and finally the movers just showed up one Monday. AMG never coordinated with me or the moving company regarding my pick-up, delivery, or packing services. The moving company [redacted] and [redacted] is who they sold my job to who is also awful) was not aware it was a full pack so they used the material they had, which was NOT appropriate and then CHARGED me for the extra materials. (they only had wardrobe boxes which are the most expensive so simple things like pillows, blankets, etc were packed in a wardrobe box). Lastly, Ocean tried to tell me that my things weighed 1000 more than what it should have (I moved the EXACT same furniture and goods the year before and still had my weight ticket so I knew this was incorrect). I immediately called AMG to help work out this issue and they basically said too bad and called me a liar. They said the reason the weight was higher was because I obviously wasn't honest with my inventory and that I had to handle it on my own. I paid $911 to AMG for them to literally do nothing. Please don't make the same mistake!!

I received a call from [redacted] from AMG on Monday 7/21/14 with regards to my upcoming move from Syracuse, NY to Ft. Myers, Fl. (I am not sure how he got my phone number) I had explained to [redacted] that I had already booked a U-Haul truck for this move and explained I wasn't interested. He pursued the conversation by indicating he thought he could offer a comparable price and if I were to go with his company it would also be much less stress on me to have others do all the physical work. I listened to his sales pitch in which he indicated he could have the truck out to me between Wed 7/23 and Thurs 7/24 (a 48 hr window). I explained to him that this just would not work for me as I was scheduled to leave NY at the latest, by Wednesday night as I was to be in Florida by Fri 7/25 at 5 pm. [redacted] placed me on hold (to speak with his manager), returned to the phone and ensured me that he would have the truck there on Wed 7/23 and that everything would work out fine.
[redacted] then explained he needed a down payment of $931.00 in order to proceed with the reservation. During our conversation, I had asked him several more times that he is confident the movers will be here on time. He confirmed over and over again that I had nothing to worry about.
He did state that if for some reason the truck was running late, he would have then out to my house at the latest by Thursday early morning. I made him confirm and promise this to me several times before the conversation went any further. I figured that if the truck didn’t arrive until early Thursday (worst case scenario) , I could leave the movers at the house to finish up while I hit the road with my daughter and we could drive right through if we needed to.
[redacted] then explained he needed a down payment of $931.00 in order to proceed with the reservation. During our conversation, I had asked him several more times that he is confident the movers will be here on time. He confirmed over and over again that I had nothing to worry about. He explained that the next steps would include; I would be receiving a call later that day or early the next morning (Monday or Tuesday) to confirm pick up address and time.
I never heard anything on Monday night so I called [redacted] around lunch time on Tuesday with no return call. I proceeded to call [redacted] several more times on Tuesday without success (every 30 minutes). My calls then started again early Wednesday morning and continued every 30 mins as the truck was supposed to be there that day! I hadn’t even ever heard from the truck driver as [redacted] had indicated I would. I had left several voice messages asking [redacted] to please return my call. I was finally able to get through to their ‘not so nice or helpful customer service’ line on Thursday 7/24 around 1pm and spoke with [redacted] who proceeded to tell me that they cannot guarantee there will be a truck to pick up my belongings until Friday or Saturday! I became absolutely irate at this point explaining to him that [redacted] promised this would all go smoothly and that the truck would be there on Wednesday (or by the latest Thursday morning) and here it was already Thursday afternoon. I also explained that importance of me having to be in Florida by Friday evening and that the truck coming on Friday or Saturday just wasn’t going to work for me. [redacted] began screaming at me and accusing ME of blaming AMG for MY POOR PLANNING! I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing! I was so angry that I told them to forget the whole deal. I told them I don’t want them sending anyone to my house on Friday or Saturday as I would be gone with my belongings by then. I was forced to rent a truck myself so that I could try to meet my commitment (which did NOT happen as the truck I originally rented was no longer available). [redacted] said I would be giving up my deposit as I did not cancel within the 24 hr window. I explained that he and AMG are the ones who breached the contract as their 48 hr window was about to expire and I still hadn’t even heard from the truck driver! [redacted]

In summary, I rented my own truck and had to do the move with help from a few friends. I called my credit card company to dispute the charges. AMG just recent fought back stating that I was the one who didn’t cancel the services in time! I was forced to have to pay those crooks $931. Although I would love a chance to get my money back; I more so do NOT want any others to fall victim to these horrible people!
[redacted] and AMG lied to me and took advantage of my vulnerability as I was already anxious about this move and nervous about meeting my arrival time of 5 pm on Friday July 25th which did NOT happen thanks to them. I beg that someone take a look into this fraudulent company.
