American Financial Benefits Center posed as a federal student loan provider. That would help distressed people needing assistance. They take all your personal information, state how much your payments will be. Signing a blind contract, they state nicely they'll do it all for you. Now after paying them nearly $5,000 in just over 2 years. My PRIMARY fedloan company says now I owe them. AFBC was only a third party, taking money from me monthly only to once a year send Them my information that I could have done directly. They took a person really in need of financial help and MISLED me and Frauded me, took money from me. Be cautious and dont doing business with them regarding school loans. Please let me know how to stop them if you can.
Our Customer Service team was able to contact Ms. Dolph yesterday and review her file with her. We re-explained all of the successful and comprehensive work performed for her, and cleared up information that was told to her from her loan servicer. At the end of the discussion we were able to resolve her concerns amicably. We appreciate her communication with us, and encourage her to contact our Customer Service team with any questions in the future.
Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: AFBC Did cancel my account as requested, that was one of my request, I am appreciative. However, I do not understand how the Revdex.com and the Federal Trade Commission can allow a company to pose as something it is not. It appears to be very misleading and fraudulent. I was told that they would be my student loan provider and that I would be paying them for the next 10 years , not a penny had went to my student loan all of it went to this third party provider that they have now said that they worked on my behalf . I even spoke to my Federal Loan provider and they said they are nothing but a misleading and a fraudulent company they and referred me to the Federal Trade Commission . In the last 2 years and 4 months they have taken over $4,000 from my account. Please see attached letter showing as they state them regarding RE: Student Loan Payment. And a STLN account number.
Sincerely,Rhonda Dolph
They advertise that your payments go towards your student loans and that they will negotiate a price for you. But when asked for statements they say that there are none. Come to find out all your money goes to them and services that you don't even know you have. This is a scam company and I do not want anyone else to have this happen to them we are out thousands of dollars we are out $4000.00 for them filing paperwork and adding life lock as well as roadside seriously!! They claim they will negotiate your student loans to a lower amount. What a fraud!!
Our Customer Service team was able to contact Mr. Bills via telephone. We reviewed the initial agreement signed by Mr. Bills and explained, with confirmation, the services performed on his file over the past 2 years as our client. As our goal is 100% client satisfaction, we provided Mr. Bills with a partial refund, and he agreed that we've satisfied all concerns to his satisfaction.
I joined with this company nearly 2 years ago and for the entire time I thought that they were helping me but they were not. they were taking $99 from me every month and not paying a single dime to my student loan provider. All they kept doing was putting me into a forbearance which was hurting me more than helping me. My student loan went from $46k to $53k because of them and I'm beside myself aggravated because as a former student, I have enough student loan debt, I didn't need this piled onto it! I want my money back. the company was only willing to give me back $2,287.00. I want the money back that they had added onto my student loan, it's absurd that I should have to be put into a deeper hole because this company is shady and doesn't care about what they do to people's lives.
Our Customer Service team was able to reach Ms. Luther and address her concerns to her satisfaction. We were able to fully discuss and address her questions, and issued a refund at her request. Thank you
2 years ago I started with the company mentioned above for a service called "Loan Forgiveness Program". The services listed and disclaimed were not rendered and not clear enough, making my loans on a delinquent status. Their services requires a monthly fee plus a submission of paperwork annually, that I was the one the have to be on top of them and calling making sure they have everything needed, and everytime was an issue. Finding out that they were prolonging my loans by deferment or forbearance without letting me know was unacceptable, which is not what a signed for. I've been with this company almost 3 years, by allegedly keeping me in the "Loan Forgiveness Program" and they haven't done any of what I was paying for. Also by talking to other co-workers that are doing the same program, one of them that makes 6 figures and has a big family has to pay "nothing" versus me, that me and my husband make 5 figures and its just the 2 of us have to pay a certain amount of money. That makes me think that this company is not on the same page. I feel used, and its taking advantage of someone who barely knows about financial services. This company is a ripoff.
Our Customer Service team has made multiple contact attempts to Ms. Perez and has been unsuccessful in reaching her. As our goal is 100% client satisfaction, we encourage Ms. Perez to contact us at her earliest convenience so that we may resolve this matter. Thank you.
The services that are listed and "disclaimed" were not rendered. I paid for a service for my student loan paperwork to be handled on a monthly/annual basis and I was the one doing all the leg work. I was the one contacting the business to stay on top of my files but every time I reached out was the same answer, "oh we need to resubmit your paperwork." Was paying to be a part of a Public Service Loan Forgiveness and all they did, time after time, was defer or forbear my loans, which is not what I signed up for. I was paying, almost 2 years, of them "keeping me in a Loan Forgiveness" and they haven't done any of what I was paying for to keep me on that track that they claimed. I feel violated and taken advantage of. I work hard for my money, and no one needs to pay a service provider when you yourself are the one providing the service.
Per the notes on Ms. Puertas' account, she only requests contact through email. Our customer service team was able to initially establish contact with Ms. Puertas and fulfilled her request to cancel her account. After sending confirmation of the termination of her account, we were unable to confirm that all matters were resolved. After multiple attempts at confirmation, we have closed the case today, but invite Ms. Puertas to contact us in the future with any questions, or to confirm that we've satisfied her concerns. Thank you.
I have been misled by AFBC into paying them money, as part of a student loan forgiveness. I was told they that I would pay them $199 for 9 months, and then $99 afterwards for the total of 10 years, and my student loan would be forgiven. While I would be paying them this amount of money, they would in turn paying money to my student loan company. To qualify with them, I have also found that they lied stating that I had 9 family members. After paying for a year, I needed to re-qualify, but I don't because I got married and also do not have 9 family members. As I am preparing to repay my loan to the loan holder, I found that American Financial Benefits Center did not pay any money on my loan at all. They set it up that no money needed to be paid, as an almost deferment, but it still sat and collected interest, while no money was paid into the account. I have lost almost $2000 that could have been actually going to my loan to pay off my student loans. After calling to complain on 11/17/2016, they told me I could only be refunded only $800. I took the $800, because I figured it was better than nothing at the time. The rest of my money was never paid towards my student loan.
Our Customer Service team spoke with Ms., and provided her with a refund for services rendered. We appreciate the prompt response and cooperation from Ms. during our investigation into the matter. Ms. confirmed that we have resolved the complaint to her satisfaction.
AFBC reached out to me in 2015 after I graduated from College with a bachelors degree. The representative told me that their company will consolidate my federal loans for repayment. I was signed up for a monthly payment of $99/mo with the understanding that a portion of this payment was being applied to my federal loans. Come to find out AFBC has not been applying any of my monthly payment towards my federal student loans. I now have multiple delinquencies on my credit report because payments to fedloan services have not been made. The only way I came across the delinquencies was from a credit report I had run. If I had not done that, I have no idea how long this situation would have gone on for. I am now having to dispute the claims on my credit report form fedloan services due to being misinformed of AFBC's intentions.
Our customer service team was able to successfully reach out to Ms. and resolve her concerns via refund. We would like to thank her for her cooperation and communication.
