American Financial Benefits Center Reviews (32)

This business purports to consolidate your federal loans for college, but I have my doubts that any money went toward my loans at all They are also rude and pushy over the phone Whenever I tried to ask the question about where my $a month had gone to, he changed the subject He also ridiculed me to a small degree, asking why I had so many last names, and said that I just wasn't able to understand what he was saying I paid them $a month for months and I still don't know if any (or how much) money, went to those government lenders to help pay off the loan

I received a letter in the mail in the summer of with literature explaining loan forgiveness programs Upon calling the phone number, I was informed the company offering this was American Financial Benefits Center I spoke with Dave Pearlman almost inclusively for the first year I had services with the company They informed me that I would have a $a month payment for several months and it would reduce to $a month after a certain threshold was met...and it did From time to time during my experience with AFBC, I would receive letters from my student loan provider stating that I had a payment coming due I would call AFBC explaining the situation and they would take care of it I received another letter from my student loan company about a week and a half ago I had missed a payment to AFBC due to personal reasons and having to move and change address In the chaos, I forgot to call AFBC and update my information So I called AFBC to see what I needed to do to become compliant They informed me that due to my missed payment, my account with AFBC was, more or less, in limbo for lack of better words They informed me I needed to contact my student loan provider because I was in default and I would have to become current on my student loans to regain services from AFBC I called my student loan provider and explained to them what the "supervisor" from AFBC had told me They explained that it sounded like I had fallen victim to a predatory loan forgiveness programShe went on to say that they are very aggressive in their efforts and put on a good front She said they normally acquire a person's information and burn up forbearment time on a loan and that numerous people are effected by them annually Thankfully I caught it in enough time to fix my student loan status before it actually did go to defaultSo, tonight I called back to AFBC to see if they could look up how much money I have paid them since July of *** told me $2, I further asked her if she could look at my account and see how my money was being applied to my loans since my loan was almost in default status She couldn't produce any information and had me on hold for nearly minutes so she could connect me to a supervisor who might have the ability to help me with my account better than she couldI believe it's safe to say I have been duped by a predatory loan forgiveness program I guess I learned that an A+ rating from an accredited service like the Revdex.com must not be worth the paper it's printed on with certain companies

This business purports to consolidate your federal loans for college, but I have my doubts that any money went toward my loans at all. They are also rude and pushy over the phone. Whenever I tried to ask the question about where my $179 a month had gone to, he changed the subject. He also ridiculed me to a small degree, asking why I had so many last names, and said that I just wasn't able to understand what he was saying. I paid them $179 a month for 10 months and I still don't know if any (or how much) money, went to those government lenders to help pay off the loan.

We've been unable to successfully contact Ms. [redacted] since 9/13. Our customer service team has attempted contact every day since, excluding weekends. We will be more than happy to provide Ms. [redacted] with a full refund - however, we need to confirm a few contact details before doing so. Our goal...

is that she is 100% satisfied with the resolution of this matter. As soon as she gets in touch with or customer service team, we can issue the refund in full. Thank you.

I would like to give AFBC a positive recommendation for being an honest and straight forward organization. When I first contacted AFBC about my student loan I asked about getting a disability discharge and was told that they could do that. So I signed the contract and sent them the financial and medical information that they had asked for. During a conversation with one of AFBC' s representatives I discovered that they could not do disability discharges. So I was put in touch with a customer service manager, [redacted], who said after reviewing my medical information about my debilitating Multiple Sclerosis that I did qualify for a discharge. But since AFBC did not do disability discharges he released me from my contract, refunded the payments for their fee they had started taking from my checking account, $295.00 and refered me to an organization who could do a discharge. I could not have asked for a more honest and professional response to the circumstances that happened to me.
