American Family Fitness

I had been a member with American Family Fitness since 2017. Since then I have moved out of the area and have been unable to attend sessions at this gym for some time. During this time I continued to pay my dues on time with no issues. Today I went in to cancel with the impression that the cancellation fee was $19. When I filled out the paperwork I was told I had to pay $49 with no explanation. The girl named Karissa proceeded to laugh at my question to call over a girl named Vieka. Before I could explain my situation Vieka was on the defense and proceeded to say "are you going to be nice or rude because I'm trying to help you". At this time she had not helped me with anything nor would listen to me. I asked if there was a manager or owner I could speak with and was advised that the owner only works remotely and that I could "try" finding him on Facebook and message him there. I then asked if there was a phone number or email and was not provided with either. I then left very upset to go and speak to my lawyer about the situation. I was advise to get all contact information and contacts to review. In the contract (which was signed 3 years ago) did state my situation was correct but I was wrongfully advised at the counter. When I went back in to pay the $49 I asked for the general manager. The general manager was Emmy and she rudely decided it was inconvenient for her to get up from her computer and speak to an upset customer and continued on her computer to state "it cant be waived" again with no explanation. All three girls were extremely unprofessional and rude. I understand the frustration of multiple people being upset about this contract obligation but they need to explain before expecting customers, especially those who have given them business for several years, to pay a much higher price just to cancel their membership. I felt very disrespected and underappreciated.

I requested that my membership with American Family Fitness be cancelled when I moved to NC two years ago. American Family Fitness has continued to debit my bank account for two years after I requested they stop. I have also filed a fraud complaint with *** Bank regarding American Family Fitness.
