My car broke down and thought it might be transmission. Had aamco tow it to their shop to get diagnosed. They said my transmission was broken and suggested I buy a refurbished one. I agreed and they said I could make payments and they would store it. I paid $800 in payments and then fell behind for at least 6 months or more. Called them and they said it wasn't a problem and to pay when I could. After that I tried calling them 3 times over a period of about 3 months. Each time I left a message and no one got back to me. Then at the end of November 2019 I got a certified letter from alliance towing saying they picked up my car as abandoned from aamco. I ended up paying almost $1300 to get the car back. When I told the tow yard I was going to drive it out they said I couldn't because the transmission was in the trunk. They then said they would tow to my house for more money. The next day I went outside and opened my trunk to find no transmission. I called aamco and talked to the owner to ask why I wasn't contacted before it was towed to which he replied oh we must have a number wrong on the phone number we have for you. Which is a lie because they had called me multiple times previously. I then asked where my transmission was and he said it was his transmission now. I told him all I wanted was the broken one I started with and I would write off the money I had spent he refused and said he would install it for $1200 if I would come sign new papers. Also he said the tow company knew there was no transmission and should have let me k now that and to call the tow yard back because the owner there was his friend. I called and the owner cursed at me and screamed at me and said he wouldn't do anything. They also denied telling me the transmission was in the trunk. I dont know what to do. This doesn't seem right to me. I would love to get a working transmission back in my car, but at this point I would settle for the broken one I started with. Not to mention the $2000 I spent for nothing.
