That service was performed on...
11/19/2014. (We had previously never serviced your system.) At winterization, the RPZ unit is removed and stored by the customer until the spring. Because we had such cold temps in November, the unit most likely sustained freeze damage because you called in and scheduled your blow-out procedure so late in the fall. (There is no way to know this until the system is turned back on in the spring.) You contacted us in the spring to schedule your turn-on service. At your request, we set an appointment to be at your house on 4/16/15. Our technician spent about 30 minutes at your home for the attempted Turn-on service and diagnosis that the RPZ was damaged and needed to be replaced in order to function properly without leaking and to pass the required Loudoun County annual back flow preventer test. Normally, we collect PRE-PAYMENT of $120.00 for a turn-on service. Our minimum charge for a service call is $110. Because we were unable to perform the turn-on that day, the technician did not charge for that service call because, in good faith, he believed you would be paying us for the repair and subsequent turn-on; many times, we will credit that charge toward the repair. We apologize if that was not explained to you at that visit. (Technicians are instructed to collect a minimum trip charge even when there is no work performed or the customer changes their mind but forgets to call and cancel the appointment. A trip charge is a fair and necessary charge in our industry to cover expensive fuel & labor costs. I am sure you can understand this.) We did not charge you for “declining the quote.” Only when after several attempts to schedule the repair you let us know you “made other arrangements” we sent a bill for a trip charge, for the time/diagnosis for the 4/16/15 appointment. Most of our 2,000+ customers in this area trust our advice and expertise & have used Allen’s Sprinkler for all of their irrigation needs for 5 years or more. Quite a few have used us for more than 20 years! We feel this says a lot about how we do business and how we truly care about our customers.” Alexia Alexia S[redacted]Owner Allen’s Sprinkler & Night Lighting, LLCP.O.
