Allen's Sod service installed sod at *** on May 22,2019 and damaged my adjacent lot when it had a special sign stating PRIVATE PROPERTY.
On May 22nd I confronted the supervisor and told him I wanted the sod removed that day. He stated that he would repair any damage. At the end of the day the balance of sod was in the street but the racks were still on my lot. Also, there was no sign of repair or cleanup plus they had used the tree line as a dump. The next day I did a tour of my lot adjacent to *** and found that they had also used it also as a dump and put cuts and gouges in the soil from tractor work. We pay taxes and HO fees on this lot and cut grass and keep it free from debris and do not want others thinking it is a nice place to dump, tear up and throw debris. A polite letter was sent via registered mail to Allen's Sod Service on May 23rd explaining all of the above and stating that I wanted soil repaired and the dumping removed. I did not state a timeline thinking they could easily and quickly put this matter to rest by contacting me either by email or phone. I have a severe hearing disability and struggle with the phone.
Repair
The complaint is correct and accurate. We will be fixing this property on Saturday, June 8th. I will try to contact the homeowner by telephone to let him know what is going on. I hate that people are so impatient ..
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
YES, but I don't agree that I was impatient. First - my Private Property sign was ignored. Second - The supervisor did not cleanup that day as he said he would. Third - My certified letter with three methods to contact me was ignored for a whole week. I have been through this same problem with another contractor and I have had enough. I have a severe hearing disability and I am reluctant to use a telephone.
On October 3rd 2018, a request for free estimate was made to Allen. They advertise free estimates and charged me $55,00 for the estimate.
Oct 3, 2018, Allen's Sod Service was called and arrived giving me an estimate. Not sure of my problem they suggested I call another person who would check out my well pump. They said the charge for reviewing my problem was $55.00 which could be used against any future problems with my sprinkler system. The specifically advertise FREE ESTIMATES FOR IRRIGATION INSTALLTION/REPAIRS. I have called them three times to request my return of $55.00. No response to return my money.
False advertisement is my complaint and I will never call this company again for service or recommend them. In fact I will also lodge a complaint with our *** Country Club magazine that contains their advertisement.
Return my $55.00.
This is the first time that I have received anything from the Revdex.com bureau concerning this matter.
Mr *** was explained BEFORE the service tech went out that there was a $55.00 charge for the service call, just as every customer that calls our office is explained to. He was also explained that the free estimates refer to sod & landscaping estimates.
We have been advertising in his communities directory for YEARS, and have never had anyone question this matter, because its always explained with the initial call.
I will refund Mr. his money but not because we feel like he is owed this by any means ..

They were paid $1,445. July 11, 2017, to replace sod with St. Augustine. They installed Floritam. Half of the sod is dark green, thick & beautiful, the other half is horrible, it is
light green, completely full of weeds & I even believe it to be a different type of sod. My mowers were displaced in September due to hurricane Irma, & half of my yard was green & beautiful, the other half was light green, yellow, & full of weeds. Massey has taken care of it, checking nutrients,
moisture, etc. & they said they can't do anything with it. I have asked that Allen come back & look
at it but have been ignored. I want them to replace the bad sod, or refund me 1/2 of my $1,445. If they choose to ignore this matter, I will be filing suit in Sumter County Small Claims Court.
Replacement Either REPLACE the bad sod, or refund me half of my $1,445.
The customer just contacted our office on Oct 19th with his request for someone to look at the sod. We have not had time to send someone to access the lawn, yet.
Our company only offers a 30 day warranty on new sod, as there are to many elements that affect sod. I am going to contact Massey services & see when the first time the lawn was treated by them & get there assessment. As the customer stated, we have had lot of weather issues since his sod was installed & all of this will affect the situation. I have no explanation as to why part of the sod is green & part isn't, but if said customer will have a little patience someone access the lawn. My son is the owner & is very fair with our customers, even if the warranty is out & he feels like there was a problem with the grass he will take care of the situation.. Patience is the key right now since this is our busy time of the year ..
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I should NOT have accepted it in the first place, but did. Thought I would give it a chance to come back. I do have pictures of the beautiful green grass, as well as the sod that did not grow anythinng but WEEDS during September, when it was not mowed because my mowers were displace during IRMA. Sod installed 7-11
Massey here 7-25. Both areas of sod get the exact same care. I will practice patience for 30 days, after that will share my experience with social media, as well as pictures.
Sod was replace for Terry V on Friday, November 17th .. She wasn't happy because the sod was not as green as what was in here existing yard, but the foreman explained to her that it will have to get a root system established first then put some milorganite on the grass and it will green it up .. I'm just really sorry that people to do not understand that sod is a living product & must be nurtured as so. Her warranty was long out, but as a courtesy we honored our part. My understanding was that she told the foreman she would never recommend our company. The lack of non graditute of people amazes me sometimes.
They did replace the bad sod, & I am now satisfied with the results. Thank yoou
