I have been with bcbsla since 2013. My daughter underwent treatment for braces in 2014. Under my coverage, my maximum payout is $1500. In July of 2015, blue cross switched 3rd party claim handlers(without informing policy holders). As a result, claims were still being sent to the former claims handler because I was not informed of the change. Because of this, nothing was being paid(obviously). Once my orthodontist office makes me aware that they've been sending claims since July of 2015, I get involved. I find out that the new handler won't issue payment because bcbsla hasn't sent them any record of how much has been paid. Once I contacted bcbsla, they tell me the former handler is non-existent and they can't find the info necessary to expedite the payment. So now, I'm left holding the bag for the last $500 payment for treatment all because of non communication when switching claim handlers. Not to mention, I pay $1200 per month for coverage with bcbsla. Thanks for the great customer service!!! I cancelled my coverage that day!!!
