Quoted for 6 hours of service. Crew sent kept taking smoke breaks and purposely running the clock up.
Crew of three was sent, went very slow at every item they moved. One of their crew, the driver wouldn't move any items unless it was very light. Kept catching him either on his phone or smoking in the truck. When asked to cover the cushions of the couch the driver said we aren't doing that and threw them out in the outside hall. Roughly every 20 minutes they would take a smoke break next to my apartment. When I told them they couldn't be smoking because my community was smoke free community and I could be fined they snarled and after 20 minutes had another smoke break right next to my open apartment door. I then called their boss Josh which informed me that they shouldn't be taking any on the clock breaks without my permission. Then the crew dropped my dresser off the truck and the driver came out and said ***T happens and laughed. I then called Josh again and at that point I demanded another crew to be sent out, but unfortunately Josh didn't have another crew available for that day so they would have to hold onto our items until another day was available. Unsure what to do I had to crew continue because I had no choice since they loaded half the apartment already. When asking if they would be taking a lunch the driver said no we don't do that. When we left I told the driver to follow me to the apartment but he went his own way which took them an extra 20 minutes to meet us at the new apartment. I told my partner to go to the bank because the crew was way over what was estimated just to pack the old apartment. The driver overheard my conversation and as soon as his crew unloaded a handful of items told them to seize work until we had the new full estimated cost paid. Which I never signed. I told him I never had to pay until at least the truck was three quarter empty and he said well I'm collecting it now. When it came to paying him. He charged me for six mattress bags and two mirror boxes. When I asked what was that for he informed me you wanted the cushions covered you got it. At that pointed I demanded he called his boss which wasn't Josh at that time but Scott. Scott told me that's his way and I had to pay it. He also informed me I was getting charged overtime for 9 hours of work because it took longer than what was quoted. I told him that his crew was terrible and their lazy practice was the reason we went over our estimated time. He then told me that's what you owe and demanded payment for the additional hour. At that time the truck was empty and I told him I was not paying for the additional hour. I also demanded to talk to another manager and he told me he was the owner of All my Sons. I told him I wanted corporates phone number and he refused saying he was the highest person I could talk to. At that moment I told him to give me corporates phone number or I would be hiring a lawyer. He then provided me the number and mutter sly fk and hung up the phone on me. When I asked the crew to provided me a receipt they ignored me and continued packing up the truck. When asked if I needed to sign anything they ignored me and got in the truck and drove off. I still have yet to receive a receipt.
We have used All My Sons several times before. I do believe this was a franchise location and this was our first encounter with this franchise. Corporate needs to be aware of what their franchise locations do, because this was the worst I have ever been treated by anyone. I feel like they did what ever they wanted because they knew I was in a bad predicament knowing I couldn't get another crew the same day. I also believe that this was discrimination as well because the moment the driver saw me and my partner he kept giving me dirty looks and kept muttering under his breath. I think for the stress they put me and my partner thru and also breaking my furniture they can afford to give me a full refund. I believe in paying my fair share but after being treated like complete trash I don't like the idea of a penny of my hard earned money going to them.
Customer was provided with a rough estimate of 6 hours for the move. It was explained to the customer several times, by phone and email (quote email sent on 7/30/19 & Bill of Lading signed before move began), that we are an hourly rate company and final charges are based on the time it takes to complete the move. At no time was 6 hours guaranteed.
The damages to the dresser were reported to the office by the driver immediately. Customer was advised that a damage claim could be submitted by him at the completion of the move, customer did not follow up.
Scott (operations manager) spoke with the customer several times about why the move was taking longer than expected. Driver and crew reported that customer was impeding their progress by micromanaging the load. Scott advised the customer to let the crew do their job so they could finish in a more timely manner.
Ultimately customer was charged 8 hours labor (not 9) and refused to pay the entire bill, leaving an account balance of $246.03. Final conversation with the customer was terminated after customer became verbally abusive with Scott. Customer did not contact office and advise that final receipt was not received by email.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Moving a 2 bedroom apartment should never take 9 hours. 6 hours is what I was given as in estimate which I was told that it was only an estimate but from past experience with the same company it never went over what they estimated. The estimator even told me sometimes we over estimate so that way your not suprised after. As for "micromanaging" when you said a crew that takes smokes breaks every 15 minutes anyone would "micromanage" a lazy crew like that. That's taking advantage of the customer. Scott never called me. I called to talk to a different manager and he even said they should not be smoking at all. Especially if the customer is telling the crew it's a NON SMOKING community and the customer could be fined. For the dresser seeing that the crew just laughed at it reporting to their poorly managed office would probably only result in frustration. For Scott his attitude and lack of professionalism on handling the situation from the beginning is not fault but his own. If he took the situation seriously he wouldn't of gotten yelled at. I can promise from how bad his reviews are that I'm not the only one who yelled at him. After calling me a sly piece of st anyone else would of had a few words for him as well. For his crew to tell me they never moved anyone from a third floor without an elevator tells me how poorly this business operates. For the receipt it should not be up to the customer to hunt down a receipt. That's something that should of been provided on the spot, but Scott be slick trying to charge me for things I should t of been charged for.
