Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The response details are not accurate Although AHI acknowledged the job not being completed, the percentage stated was overly generousThe bate and switch tactics, poor quality of work, extended absence from the work site, and the dangerous drywall over an open ceiling heat lamp is just unacceptable AHI stated we did not allow them in our home to complete repairs That is not true Between the months of December and February we received very few responses from AHI on when we could expect the work to be completed This was after several months of little work being performed on a regular weekly basis We arranged one day in January for work to be done after about a month absence from AHI and two simple tasks were not completed properly The time periods of no work being performed and the poor quality of work that was being completed became unreasonableWe agreed to work with AHI in June It will cost me thousands of dollars to have another contractor fix and complete the work that should have been completed by AHI

April 14, 2016Revdex.com K StNW 10th Floor Washington, DC 20005Attn: *** ***RE: Complaint ***I have reviewed Mrs***’s complaint and we’re sorry for the less than stellar service she received. In regard to repair of her sprinkler system: As Ms ***s stated
we did attempt to repair her sprinkler water linesDue to inclement weather and scheduling conflicts the job was never completedIf Ms ***s would kindly call our main office at 301-3240333, we will gladly reschedule her repair at no chargeHowever, please remind Ms ***s that service is only offered Monday through Friday between 9am and 4pmAny other times would require an after hour service fee of $that we wish to avoid. In response to Ms ***’s sewage complaint, unfortunately this is the first documented correspondence we are aware ofWithout benefit of the actual service ticket from *** and ***, it is impossible to determine if the repairs are related to our workHiring another contractor with no concurrence from Affordable Home Improvements would clearly void her warranty rights.More importantly, we searched and there is no record of Ms ***s ever calling for emergency repairs to her sewer lineAdditionally, Ms ***s has the owner’s personal mobile number and our direct office phone numberThere is no recorded message requesting repair, nor any written correspondenceWe can’t fix what we don’t know is broken.Although we have no doubt the service situation occurred; customer/business protocol would require her to contact the installing contractor (Affordable Home Improvements)If we had refused to provide warranty service then I am sure the owner would agree reimbursement would be in order. It is evident that Ms ***s is cognizant of the distinction between us (the general contractor) and Mr*** (the subcontractor.) Therefore, her complaint should have been lodged directly with our office for resolutionThis never occurred and based on the complaint letter, it appears Mr*** wasn’t contacted either.Again, we regret this disappointing chain of events and will respond to the complaint in the manner describe herein

Date: Thu, Jun 1, 2017 at 6:41 PMSubject: Complaint#[redacted]                                                 This is response to a complaint lodged April 22, 2017 by [redacted]...

[redacted].     We have been in business for over 10 years and a member of Revdex.com for nearly 9 years. Over this large expanse of time, we have only had two claims that I am aware of and both were resolved. Affordable Home Improvements (AHI) endeavors to stand behind our workmanship and we are disheartened anytime a customer is unhappy.      As owner,  I personally removed a project manager from the job and took the project management myself. The [redacted]'s and I worked side by side to overcome minor hurdles and mutually agreed to complete the project regardless of past management foibles.    The project was 95% complete when a preexisting, concealed plumbing leak halted completion. The [redacted]'s requested an independent entity to determine the party (s) responsible for the leak and conduct the repairs. They were to contact AHI with their findings. This was over six months ago. To this day, we have not received any oral or written follow up.     Regarding the contractual agreement. The entire contract price was $31,390.00 not $50,000.00 and was broken down into three separate subcontracts. Of the three, two were totally completed and the preponderance of work had already been satisfactorily completed on the final contract. Since December 2016 despite numerous attempts to gain entry and complete the project there has been no response from the client. This complaint is misleading at best and omits our attempts to fulfill our contractual obligation. Given the prolonged project and inconvenience, we even made an monetary settlement offer commensurate with the outstanding work items to no avail.     Reading the [redacted]'s complaint there appears to be no complaint at all with contract #1 for General Repairs totaling $8,950.00, or the second contract for bath remodeling for $10,350.00. Only now is there any mention of an uneven bath floor after the demand for payment for a fully function bath. The final contract was for a kitchen remodel valued at $12, 0900.00. The Quartz counters-beautiful, ceramic back splash, crown molding, flooring, plaster, plumbing, paint etc. (except one cabinet and with a small blemish and one alleged badly wired outlet in a Pre-1900 home), the kitchen project was acceptable to the client. We have never received a notice of termination from The [redacted]'s. Sad to say, after rejecting our generous offer, the customer has been turned over to a private collection agency due to failure to respond and/or failure to make payments per contract for completed work.    If you have any question please feel free to contact me directly, ###-###-####.Sydney P
