I received a quote for moving the contents of our house from Haverstraw NY to Myrtle Beach SC on 12//19. The owner , Anthony came to my house and we negotiated a rate of $8200.00 for the move and the agreement that he signed indicated 2100 cubic feet of space. He came to our house 3 other times to inspect the contents that would be moved, the latest was on 1//20, seven days before the move. He was given two deposit amounts of $500.00 each. The day of the move he was not there . His partner David showed up with a crew. Half way through loading the van the foreman Jose came to me asking for more money then was agreed upon. The partner David also spoke to me telling me that since we would be over 1500 cubic feet of space the rate was to be higher. Despite the fact that I showed him my contract that clearly said 2100 cubic feet. He then told me that if I did not pay him the extra money he would offload what was already on his truck back into my house, basically holding my furniture for ransom. Knowing that we where signing for the house the very next day. His partner, Anthony was not reachable and I have yet been able to speak with him or receive a return phone call. I basically had to pay an extra $2886.00 to move my furniture and this is what I am claiming as I believe these people are scammers. This move took 12 hours to complete.
