I signed up for an account with www.***.com, owned by Five Star Choice, LLC. A $59 dollar deposit was taken from my account. The advertising states that they are a first level wholesaler, they guarantee the lowest prices, and the deposit can be refunded if the account is closed within 30 days of opening.
I opened the account 07/17/2007 and noticed that the products are not the lowest price. I did some more digging and found that the only valid address on file is a residential home in ***. Many directories have "Albany Distributing" listed as being at a *** location outside of ***. There is no way they can operate a warehouse out of a residential home.
a) It's not zoned for that
b) It's too small a location
c) There is no loading dock
This invalidates their claim to be a first level distributor.
The product pricing is more than online retailers. Therefore it cannot be the lowest wholesale pricing. They list that no further discounts can be given even if a larger quantity is purchased.
I called on 7/18/2017 to close my account and request a refund. The representative would not give me verification and said it would be 7-10 days. I exclaimed that I would file a chargeback and ended the phone call. I received a call back from the same representative I spoke to on a number identified as "Albany Headsets" where he was quick to identify me over the phone and stated that the account was canceled and a refund would be applied. I have a recording of these calls.
Upon registration, I did not receive any emails from Albany Distributing, upon closing I did not receive any emails from Albany Distributing. I have not received any postal mail from Albany Distributing. The billing information when charging my card did not include an address.
The company is taking money from people, not providing the service as advertised (lowest pricing, first level wholesaler), and will not refund me.
This company is a blemish on business conducted in NY state. They make fraudulent claims that they know full well to be misleading lies and lie to their customer/partners when a refund is requested.
Albany Distributing is indeed a first level dropshipper that buys from the vendor and delivers product directly to the end user. AD guarantees that its wholesale prices will be lower than what you will find from a direct competitor I.e. *** and ***. to name a few. If you find that a competitor is selling for less than AD, please send an email to ***@***.com. It is important to keep in mind that AD does not price match to other retailers that sell to the public, i.e. ***, ***, and ***, to name a few. A retailer, just like a distributor, may purchase products directly from the vendor in large quantities giving them the ultimate buying power to undercut another retailer. Some retailers also have exclusive agreements directly with the manufacturers placing retailers who go through a distributor at a disadvantage. These are just a few ways in which a retailer could potentially undercut another retailer. Retailers with low startup capital often times use a supplier, such as AD because it cannot meet the minimum requirements to purchase direct from a manufacturer. Sometimes in order to purchase direct you may be obligated to send a $25,000 purchase order. The AD policy for the $59 membership has consistently been a nonrefundable fee, however, recently AD has updated this policy and now offers a 30 day money back guarantee for account that are cancelled in 30 days from the date of sign up. There are however some exceptions to this policy. 1.) You must be a new AD customer, not an existing AD customer, and 2.) Your account must have been created prior to the policy change. Since your account was created with the old policy, your account is not eligible for a refund. However, in order to satisfy you, I would be more than happy to provide a refund to your account however because you have initiated a chargeback indicating that you had not received access to the service when in fact you have logged into your account on multiple occasions from July 17th, I'd be more than happy to provide a 50% refund and this complaint be closed.
