Review: I hired Al and Dave & Son, Inc. in March 2013 to re-glaze the bathtub in my apartment. They completed the job on March **, 2013, for which I paid $500.82 (materials, labor, and tax).

Even though I followed all the care instructions that the company provided once they finished the job, the reglazing started to peel in the summer 2013.

For approximately seven months, I have been trying to reach the company so that they inspect the failed job and honor the 1-year guarantee on materials and labor that they provide to their clients. The guarantee is stated on their invoice. The company has been non-responsive.

I have never gotten a response to my emails or my voice messages. [redacted] is the only person at the company that I've been able to speak with. She has always declined my requests to speak with any of her [redacted]s or senior people at the company. I've attempted to schedule an inspection with her numerous times. Her response has always been "let me get back to you, I need to look at my schedule". She has never called me back,

Another of her typical responses is that the company doesn't have any other jobs scheduled in Manhattan, so I have to wait until there are more jobs in order to get service. After seven months trying to get an inspection scheduled, this is clearly a stalling effort to let time go by so that the guarantee expires and the company can get away with not honoring it even though their work failed.Desired Settlement: I would like to get a full refund of the $500,82 that I paid for this failed work. I do not wish to deal with the company any more given their non-responsiveness. The only representative that I've been able to speak with is very difficult and has awful customer service skills. Thus, I prefer getting my money back and forgetting about any dealings with this company.

Response:

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Al and Dave & Son, Inc. regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The business has not scheduled a time to repair the faulty work they did in my apartment. The business continues to say that they can't send someone over to repair the work because they're based out of Staten Island and it doesn't make financial sense for them to send someone to Manhattan unless they have more than one job scheduled in Manhattan on the same day. Since "things have been kind of slow", according to the business, then I'm out of luck in getting my bath tub repaired promptly.

A [redacted] by the name of [redacted] did visit my apartment about three weeks ago to inspect the work. He instructed that I provide potential dates and times that would work for scheduling the repairs. I followed his instructions and advised the business last week they could do the work on March [redacted]. I left a voice message and sent a fax to the person that manages scheduling at the business ([redacted]), and attached to the fax my building's insurance requirements for outside contractors. It is March **and I have not neither heard back from the scheduler nor has she sent the required insurance certificate to the super at my building.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Regarding Complaint ID [redacted],

Finally, the business corrected their faulty work on April [redacted], 2014, approximately 10 months after my first call to them.

Sincerely,

Review: My complaint is almost identical to the other one on this site. The job was done July **. I called to complain when I returned to my apt. on the [redacted] (I went away because of the fumes and my small child).

I saw the raised sharped bits on the bottom of the tub when the protective plastic was removed. We had never used the tub.

I called [redacted] on July [redacted] to tell her the work was not only sloppy and looked terrible, but dangerous. I explained that I have a young child and that the tub hadn't been properly done and as a result, there are sharp pieces on the bottom of the tub that could scratch a child. She was condescending and said only "it happens all the time." There was No attempt to set up an appointment to fix the problem. My handyman warned me this company would try to say I hadn't kept the tub clean and that's why there were sharp pieces on the bottom of the tub. I had him call "Al and Dave" too (he was a witness not only to the shoddy work, but also to the fact that we'd never used it), but they wouldn't speak to him even when I called and said I wanted them to.

Again, a lot of dodging of responsibilities and a lot of shady practices. [redacted] always had an excuse: The [redacted] was too busy. Or not in manhattan (like the other complaint). My complaint was identical to so many I found on the internet ([redacted])

Weeks went by. They Never called back when called. The only way to speak to [redacted] was to ambush her on the phone. Every time I asked to speak to the [redacted] said they were busy. When I called again a few days later, still busy. The third time there was still no [redacted] who could call me back. That was two months ago.

I hesitated about filing a complaint because I've never complained about a company, but more because of how shady this business has been. They seem like the kind of company who might harass someone who complained.

One of my closest friends is the former inspector general of the state, under Governor Cuomo and urged me to complain, saying that companies who cheat customers and don't honor their word should be reported. Another friend who works for 20/20 said this is exactly the kind of business that they investigate on their program.

$500.82 is a lot of money and while I considered giving up and just hiring another company to redo Al and Dave's terrible work, I agree that people should speak up and not let businesses like this cheat customers.Desired Settlement: I want my money back. This is by far the most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with. I wouldn't trust them to do any repairs. A good company honors its word and understands that customer satisfaction is key to its reputation. I think this company tries to slowly bully its customers into giving up. I want a refund because I will need to hire another company to redo the horrible work that this unethical company did.

Sincerely,

Review: On July **, 2015, Al and Dave sent a repairman to fix a chip in my bathtub. I paid $195 + $17 tax for a total of $212 for the service. I was told not to use the tub for two days and to never use abrasives to clean it. After the repair was done, I waited until August * to use the tub. I never use abrasives on the tub. On August ** I noticed that the repair wasn't completed- damage was showing and I called Al and Dave. They said they would take care of it. I called again on August ** and September * and again requested that they send someone to finish the job. This morning, September **, I again called and left a message on their answering machine. None of these calls have worked.Desired Settlement: If they cannot or will not do the repair I want a refund so that I can hire someone else to do it.
