A.I.R. Lawn Care has failed to live up to the terms of the contract I signed with them to mow my lawn. In early May, I paid $684 for the full season, which included, according to the contract, 4 mowings each in May, June and July (a total of 24 mowings for the season). The crew came out on May 7 and did not come out again until May 28, three weeks later, after I had sent several emails asking when I could expect them. The following week, they once again failed to show up. I sent three more emails and left a voicemail, and they mowed my lawn on June 12. Then, again, the crew did not come out the following week. At this point, it was clear A.I.R. had never put me on their regular schedule, and I needed to find someone I could depend on to mow my lawn, which was badly overgrown. On June 23 I emailed A.I.R. asking for a refund of $597 for the 21 mowings I had paid for but not received. The company did not respond to my email, but sent a crew out three days later. I sent them away, telling the crew leader that I had already hired someone else to mow my lawn because I could not depend on them to fulfill their responsibilities as promised in the contract. Again, I asked for a refund. Two weeks later, when no refund had arrived, I sent A.I.R. a letter again detailing how they had failed to live up to our contract and asking for a refund. They did not respond. During the weeks that I waited in vain for A.I.R. to come out, I was embarrassed by the state of my lawn and frustrated that the company sent out the crew only in response to my entreaties. I can understand that lawn companies have problems with weather and equipment, but A.I.R never reached out to me on their own to let me know when they wouldn't be able to meet their commitments. They never responded to my repeated requests to tell me a regular day when I could expect the crew. And I have received no response at all to my requests -- by email, in person and by mail -- for a refund.
