Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlay Kitsap changed ownership in October and was permanently closed in August Although the new owners did not acquire the liabilities of Play, Inc., the original owners of Play Kitsap, during the purchase of the business, the owners of Ahoy Kitsap Playland did honor punch cards sold by Play, Incfor over one yearSeveral announcements were made via social media and on its website about no longer accepting punch cards sold by Play, Incbecause Play Kitsap was permanently closing Punch cards sold by Play Kitsap were typically sold for $and included visits, each visit was heavily discounted by purchasing a punch card The punch card presented by the customer had out of punches used and was clearly purchased from Play, Incthe original owner of Play Kitsap, as it was dated and signed by the previous owner As a measure or good faith and to try to introduce our new business to the small community of Kitsap County, Ahoy Kitsap Playland accepted these punch cards for over one year from buying the Play Kitsap Business This card was not used during that time period, and would have been honored during that period of months The owners of Ahoy Kitsap Playland permanently closed Play Kitsap on August 30, and the entire facility was closed for weeks to remodel and re-open as Ahoy Kitsap Playland on November 4, The business did not simply change names, the entire facility, features and attractions also changedIn fact, while Ahoy Kitsap Playland did retain out of of the inflatables of Play Kitsap – the primary attraction of Play Kitsap (over 65%), they are not the primary attraction of Ahoy Kitsap Playland and are kept mostly in storageAll other features and attractions of Play Kitsap no longer existCurrently, Ahoy Kitsap Playland sells admission for $10/child for children between the ages of 2-and stamp cards sell for $for visits with a one-year expiration date; however, our gift certificates do not expire if someone wants to buy that for a friend or family member The punch cards are more likened to a season’s pass of sorts; rather than a gift cardAll Ahoy Kitsap Playland stamp cards are dated at the time of sale with the expiration date and buyers are informed that they must use all their punches before it expires as part of the purchase agreementAhoy Kitsap Playland is not the same business as Play Kitsap, which can be verified with photographic evidence (attached), even if it is at the same location and serves the same target market The stamp card in question is clearly for Play Kitsap, sold by Play, Incand signed by the previous owner Since the owners of Ahoy Kitsap Playland did not acquire the liabilities of Play Kitsap during the purchase of the business, they are not responsible for unredeemed stamp cards, admission tickets, etcthat were not utilized before the business closed The purpose of Ahoy Kitsap Playland is to create an environment that is safe and fun for children While we wish we could simply accept the previous punch cards in perpetuity, as a small business, this could easily put us out of business and would prevent our business from continuing to improve and serve the next generation in the greater Kitsap County areaShould you have any further questions or need clarification of any of the points outlined above, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected]

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Play Kitsap changed ownership in October 2015 and was permanently closed in August 2016.  Although the new owners did not acquire the liabilities of Play, Inc., the original owners of Play Kitsap, during the purchase of the...

business, the owners of Ahoy Kitsap Playland did honor punch cards sold by Play, Inc. for over one year. Several announcements were made via social media and on its website about no longer accepting punch cards sold by Play, Inc. because Play Kitsap was permanently closing.  Punch cards sold by Play Kitsap were typically sold for $60 and included 10 visits, each visit was heavily discounted by purchasing a punch card.  The punch card presented by the customer had 6 out of 10 punches used and was clearly purchased from Play, Inc. the original owner of Play Kitsap, as it was dated and signed by the previous owner.  As a measure or good faith and to try to introduce our new business to the small community of Kitsap County, Ahoy Kitsap Playland accepted these punch cards for over one year from buying the Play Kitsap Business.  This card was not used during that time period, and would have been honored during that period of 15 months.  The owners of Ahoy Kitsap Playland permanently closed Play Kitsap on August 30, 2016 and the entire facility was closed for 10 weeks to remodel and re-open as Ahoy Kitsap Playland on November 4, 2016. The business did not simply change names, the entire facility, features and attractions also changed. In fact, while Ahoy Kitsap Playland did retain 3 out of 4 of the inflatables of Play Kitsap – the primary attraction of Play Kitsap (over 65%), they are not the primary attraction of Ahoy Kitsap Playland and are kept mostly in storage. All other features and attractions of Play Kitsap no longer exist. Currently, Ahoy Kitsap Playland sells admission for $10/child for children between the ages of 2-6 and stamp cards sell for $75 for 10 visits with a one-year expiration date; however, our gift certificates do not expire if someone wants to buy that for a friend or family member.  The punch cards are more likened to a season’s pass of sorts; rather than a gift card. All Ahoy Kitsap Playland stamp cards are dated at the time of sale with the expiration date and buyers are informed that they must use all their punches before it expires as part of the purchase agreement. Ahoy Kitsap Playland is not the same business as Play Kitsap, which can be verified with photographic evidence (attached), even if it is at the same location and serves the same target market.  The stamp card in question is clearly for Play Kitsap, sold by Play, Inc. and signed by the previous owner.  Since the owners of Ahoy Kitsap Playland did not acquire the liabilities of Play Kitsap during the purchase of the business, they are not responsible for unredeemed stamp cards, admission tickets, etc. that were not utilized before the business closed.  The purpose of Ahoy Kitsap Playland is to create an environment that is safe and fun for children.  While we wish we could simply accept the previous punch cards in perpetuity, as a small business, this could easily put us out of business and would prevent our business from continuing to improve and serve the next generation in the greater Kitsap County area. Should you have any further questions or need clarification of any of the points outlined above, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected].
